I loaded Painter x the other day and it would not open, all I get is a flash accross my duel monitors. I uninstalled and re-installed 3 times. I tried opening it holding the shft key and that does not work. I know the program works because I had it on my other pc but I did away with that pc. I can open painter in safe mode and it works fine. It does come up with an error saying "tablet version mismatch". That is the only error I see. I am using a Wacon Tablet Intous3. I am running Xp with a LG 22" lcd screen and a viewsonic 17" crt. I have a Matrox Millennium p650 card & matrox rt2500. I run Photoshop 7 and adobe products just fine on this pc, but Painter does not seem to like it. Any ideas?

Have you downloaded the latest Wacom drivers, and latest drivers for your video card?

I am not sure which Wacom Intous 3 driver I need, here are my choices if you can help me out I have XP pro, I do not know anything about 32 bit or 64 bit:
driver 6.1.0-5 for usb tablet on Windows Vista & XP(32 & 64 bit) 10/16/2008
driver 6.08-4a for usb tablet on Windows Vista & XP(32 & 64 bit) 6/17/2008
driver 6.05-7 for windows vista (32 & 64 bit) ,XP,XP,XP x64, and 2000 9/10/2007
driver 4.93-3 for windows 200,XP, and XP x64 10/7/2005

As far as the graphics card goes that was a total flop. When I tried installing drivers, the instructions said to not remove the old drivers if I have a Matrox RT2500 card in which applies to me. I installed drivers over the current drivers and my screens would not come back on. I had to go back in safe mode and restore. I am going to have someone help me with this and try to install the latest graphics card updates(drivers and Bios). I can try the Wacom drivers myself. Thanks

I installed new Wacom Tablet drivers and that did not change my status. I am going to work on trying to install the most up to date drivers for my graphics card later today.
I am wondering if I take the 22' widescreen monitor out and replace it with a 17" lcd, will that change things...hmm. The only reason I say this is because I have a vga crt 17'' monitor running in conjunction with the 22' lcd. I do not know if it matters, I do not hear too much about users monitor setups. I guess it is worth a try.

I came accross a post that said something about trying to open a riff file. I did this and now painter opens. Thanks

How much Memory does your system run. FYI I remember CX doesn't start with memory over 8gb.
