Came out yesterday, been playing it. I was skeptical about them going back to a WWII theme but they really pulled it off

Anyone else gotten/plan on getting it?

But it's not infinity ward boooo.

How does it stack up against CoD 4?

It's got a lot of the things that made COD4 great. Switches between 2 soldiers and 2 story lines, graphics look good, cool environments, areas that are challenging but in a fun way, you get the idea.

I still think modern warfare was better, but this one isn't a disappointment. Main downside is that it's also pretty short, I was able to beat it in an afternoon, and sadly it doesn't have the arcade mode that modern warfare did

BUT:

--possible spoiler--

it does have a little mini game at the end where you're trapped in a house and you have to shoot nazi zombies

Heard about the nazi zombie defend the fortress mode.

The graphic engine looks inferior to CoD4 though, am I full of shit?

I checkout the multiplayer demo. It's not bad but I do miss the modern warfare. It seems a lot cleaner than CoD4. Meaning it doesnt feel as real. Like....it's too sterile, not enough grit in the visuals. But I have been playing Fallout 3 for a while so that may be hindering my judgement when it comes to dirt and filth layers

I definitely wouldn't say the graphics are inferior, granted they're not a huge step up from modern warfare, but there are certain times in the game where I had to stop and look at some of the detail on the soldiers or buildings, etc.

I haven't seen the multiplayer demo, but they do manage to show some grit where it needs to be. Particularly when you're the Russian soldier and you're going through the streets of Germany, in the big battles there's so much going on, it's chaotic. Russians bombing the hell out of the city, pieces of buildings falling off, you can never quite tell whether or not the guy you just spotted in the corner of your eye is friendly or not, granted none of these things are revolutionary to a war game haha, but it's all really disorganized in a good way though.

I miss some of the smaller theatrical things that were in modern warfare though, like the whole bit where you were that president that got assassinated, or the soldier after the nuke went off, this game doesn't really have moments like that.

But I'm interested to hear what other people think as well

No, only about 50% of the IW employees that worked on CoD4 worked on cod 5 tbh.

All i know is the multiplayer demo, the gameplay is brilliant, i prefer these weapons to full auto-no recoil killing machines. I still think the sound is terrible, like in cod 4. it sounds like you're shooting with peeshooters instead of real guns. The maps are sweet full of detail and explosiuns.

But wont be buying it until i know the sound is kickarse
