Don't know of any Palette Knife Brush in Photoshop (Default) other than Filter>Artistic>Palette Knife. Are you sure you shouldn't be in Painter?

guys over at steambot studios use an awesome brush that simulates the look and feel of a pallet knife. Do a google search on barontieri brush downloads to find a link and get it. You can also get it from Vyle's speedpain dvd download from

You can also simulate a palette knife by using the smudge tool (I believe the hotkey for it is "R"). The smudge tool is usually really laggy, but if you bring up the spacing (under the brush options palette), it should work OK. Make sure to make the brush tip long and thin to make it look more like a palette knife.
