Does anyone know how to post a picture from Geocities Web Hosting? I've been trying to do it but all I see is red X s...

If you know any web hosting that's cheap or FREE that supports 'forum picture posting' option that'll be great!!

Thanks all~

Geocities doesn't allow off-site image linking. Basically they suck, as do most free services.

Try http://www.hostica.com. They have a $1/month package that gets you your own webspace, FTP access, e-mail account, etc.

All real web hosts support picture linking. Depends though what your definition of cheap is. I have a "cheap" $9/month host and has been great for last 5 years.

My host also has a lower $4.99 budget hosting with like 20 megs but it comes with a lot of stuff that other places charge extra for. Feel free to check them out www.ezpublishing.com

Another really good host that many large companies use that has good rates is $9/month for their basic plan and it think it offers like 100mb. Check them out Media Temple www.mediatemple.com

Those are my recommendations. Dont forget to look at details if you plan to use PHP, Front Page, ASP, emails, aliases, etc. Some places charge extra for those things.

Free hosts you can try are:
http://www.photobucket.com/
http://www.p0stwh0rehosting.com/upcenter/register.php?
http://www.angelfire.com

And for geocities try changing the file extension to .txt.

This is my host:
http://www.liquenox.net/

You'd have to find a domain registrar though. There's a thread in the forums:
http://forums.liquenox.com/index.php?showtopic=222&st=0&#entry1983

If you don't need a domain the url to your images could look like that:
http://64.191.99.205/~younname/images/

Depending on the filesize of your images they won't make more than 1 to 3GB traffic each month.
You can play a little with the price calculator.
That's pretty cheap I think.

If you find out that it is not enough you can upgrade your account easily.
For example if you start with 5GB Bandwidth and 50MB Storage.
Then upgrade to 10GB and 100MB for the remaining time after 3 month.
Then you'd pay $50 + $10(startup fee) initially.
For the upgrade it would be: $6.47 * ( 12 - 3 ) - $50 + $3.00 = $11.23

You can start with 2GB traffic and 50MB storage for example
for $3.75 /month.
And the features ...
Unlimited MySql databases, Php, Webalizer Web Statistics, Unlimited POP3 E-Mail's ...
I can't complain.
Check out andyart.de if you want.

I have not noticed any downtimes yet. That was the reason why I went to them.
