Hey there,

I´m a freelance 2D-artist with focus on Sci-Fi environments, but also strongly interested in Fantasy, Character Design of any sort and Vehicle-Design like Spaceships, Battletanks, Bikes and alike.

I am aiming to contribute art for Videogames, Cardgames, Novels, Comics or any other interesting project =)

Have a look at my Portfolio on www.Arcadian-Art.de for more artworks and higher resolution images!

The Price for an artworks depends on many factors such as color or b/w, complete concepts or speedies, etc., etc.... however, here are some approximate charges: for an elaborate, detailed finished illustration I charge about 200-250$, depending on the image content. For speed-paintings I´ll take somewhat around 50-100$, but again, it always depends on the job.
We´ll find a way to satisfy both parties =)

Feel free to contact me any time at: Vyse@Arcadian-Art.de
Now, here are some exampels:

Hi I'm a year 11 student in Australia and was wondering is concept art a job you would recommend. I myself was thinking of doing concept art as a job after school and wanted to know what it takes to be one and other than being able to draw quality work - which i can do - i.e. training, uni, tafe and so on. bye the way I admire your work, its really amazing. I'm guessing you have an electronic drawing pad?

I'm a graduate with a degree in Illustration and I think I can comfortably say that you are vastly underpricing. I took a class that was critiqued by some EA people in their spare time and the class tried to simulate the concept art industry. Consider that the average time for characters, environments, and industrial design is bout 20-24hrs of work with thumbnails, sketches, reference gathering, b/w, and color. Considering the average salary for a concept artist you should be charging a baseline of at least $25 an hour starting off. If you work faster than that and have industry experience you should be charging more per hour. Also consider if you retain the copyright or not how much the person will be making for using you're concept.

If this is your portfolio I would take out the green jungle one because the person in it is a little weakly drawn, the forest on fire because the industrial design and trees are a little soft, and definitely the knight one (the armor design is good but the pose and person can be done better). Other than that you have some nice work here. Remember to show you're best work.

Great environmental work...
What are you looking at in terms of man hours on one of those pieces and what is your technique? Only asking due to your charges per examples. Seems like you are either vastly undercharging or are extraordinarily reasonable! Are you basing these charges off of experience in dealing with companies or is it more about recieving bulk work?
Sorry if I am prying... wonderfully detailed realistic work!

RJA - yeah, i keep hearing that i don´t charge enough... i always wonder about this. I´m not sure if my artwork is really good enough the go for 200+$ yet, though. I am mostly contacted by indie-teams or a private person, and i know they can´t really afford to pay huge sums.
I don´t really charge an hourly wage - sometimes i would get too less out if, while at another i might be stuck at something simple, resulting in overpricing the image. I just charge what i think the illustration is worth, if that makes sense.
Oh, and thank you for the compliments :)

I don't mean to bud into your promotional thread, but this is great work!
