Is it just me or does anyone else get these types of emails ALL THE TIME? Don't get me wrong, it's flattering but the other day, I recieved an email from someone who wanted to use one of my creature designs in a fantasy type game and even offered to "not use my name", for some reason thinking that would make it all right. "I want to use your art that you did for yourself, completely distort it's purpose, and not give you credit! Doesn't that sound great?"

Now I'm not saying they're all bad because right now I'm working on a project where I may not get payed but these people all conduct themselves professionally, non-disclosure agreements and all. I know a good number of you guys do these things for your own enjoyment too, which is great. I just wish people would take this trade a little more seriously and with more professionalism.

I don't know. This one in particular bothered me a bit. I didn't make it personal with this guy, as he probably didn't know any better but It seems sometimes that the supply of artists is greater than the demand in this industry nowadays. It's hard not to get discouraged. Oh well. Just venting. :mumble:

As in "this mod is gonna suck to badly that you probably won't want us to print your name"?

That is not a good sales-pitch!

Don't forget:

"I made a wallpaper with various filters and your art and..."

or

"We're a couple of guys and we got this website and wanna use your art in the logo..."

or

"Hey I'm sending you a 300ppi pencil scan of an anime character i designed..."

or

"Wanna link exchange? Take a look at my site and tell me what you think btw..."

or

"Can you draw this character for me, I can't pay anything cuz I'm only 13"

heh, no the best one i ever got was a spam mail from this kid, he emailed a bunch of use at garagegames.com and the email went basically like this...

Hey everyone, ive emailed you because you are all artists & programmers and such.

i want to build a game but dont want to take part in the actual development, im looking for a team to develop a game to be sold online.

The basic idea of the game is a guy is stuck on an alien space station and has to blast his way out to escape being eaten, he has lots of guns and such.

I cant pay any of you, but when we sell the game we'll divide the profit

turned out he was 13 and didnt want to actually do any work... just say what he wanted and have us make it for him.. heh.. he got alot of hate mail for it.. defenitly did.

Exo, well that kid is kind of right...there is no way an alien can beet at predator in a one on one matchup...:o

but just imagine if there was a breed of them, then we might have something interesting going on:o
