why is it that people refuse to follow basic etiquette? have you actually tried to find the answers yourself?! if you bothered to search either these message boards or google im sure you would turn up plenty of results. coming in and simply assuming that people are going to take time out of their day to help you is just rude. especially when you show no evidence of having looked for yourself. come back and ask politely AFTER you have already done some research.

EXCUSE ME? you dont have to get on my case, in fact, i have taken 14 hours of research time, spent 130 dollars on books and posted on many message boards. i definately HAVE taken the time to research it. I was asking if people had any tips, and obviously you dont.

Do not tell me I have not done any research.

Since you asked nicely, HERE (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8468&highlight=marker+rendering) is a thread on this very subject. (This took 10 seconds to find).

perhaps in the future you should make these type of things known in your posts. the way you worded your original post sounded demanding.
if you have already researched the subject many people could waste their (and your) time by telling you things you already know. this implies that you do not value the time of other members which is extremely discourteous. while that may not be the case, thats what it implies.

however, it would be easy to perhaps post a few pictures so that people can actually give you useful advice, or to ask if there are any tutorials other than such and such (which youve already seen). the more information you give the better the information you get back will be, and you will avoid wasting other's time. not only that but you wont get people like me reaming you out.

oh, and im still guessing you didnt bother to search these boards as there has been at least one topic about this. [edit: thanks danteort]

anyway, i didnt reply to this to start an argument. i apologise if my first post was a tad aggressive.

Sgantman,
I make my living as a storyboard, and layout artist and was very fortunate to apprentice with two guys who were legendary marker renderers here in T.O. They produced beautiful, high end storyboards and comps which practically looked like oil paintings when completed. I worked with markers extensively until computers came along. A few tips that I can help with are;

Like watercolours, markers obviously need to be worked from light to dark.

A good palette of markers helps things look fresh – colours can muddy quickly if you try to mix colours too much. – A darker green colour placed on top of a medium green for shadow, is much better than using a gray, for example.

Your paper stock can make a huge difference in how the colours appear. I always preferred a “non marker”pad like a simple bond paper pad as I found the colours much richer than using a “marker “pad that prevented bleed through.

Semi dry markers, especially the flesh tones are very helpful in capturing subtle tones.

My favourite brand was the Chartpack AD marker, they had a terrific selection of colours and went down nicely.

I hope this is helpful.
