Tried posting this in the WORK IN PROGRESS & HELP forum, but noone has replied to it. Maybe I should take that hint, huh...?
Not sure why I even post it, I guess I just feel I have to get done with it and move on.
Done in Painter 8, with some 'post production' in Photoshop(levels and such).
My first piece using Painter(have been using Photoshop previously).
No references used, all in my head.
If you want to read a little about it, you can click this link. (http://home.online.no/~johmoe/art_portfolio/Rusted_Love.html)
Anyway, here's the piece:

This is awesome
Although the only thing that bothers me is that they seem to be grown together at the weist.. If they´re making love shouldnt he just be lying on top of her? or are they rusted together solid?
btw.. Keep up a good attitude, the thing about 'I´m not sure why I posted it' thing drags you down.. If you´re not sure, then why did you?

Hey, i like the tone you give the pic, its very good. I agree about the robots looking joint, try and change it if you can.
Don't let the no replies thing let you down, its happened to me before but i continued and in the end people did take notice, try and keep a stiff upper lip man.

It looks really nice but I agree about the waists looking like they're joining. THe top persons feet look strange too, as though they should be narrowing faster. I went to your website and I had a comment for one of those pieces. On your photo edit of the nasa accident there is a cable that went from the stand to the piece of technology that fell over. In your edit, the cable isn't edited out, it just ends when it hits the silhouette for the stand.

I think the WIP thread gets much less attention from board members.
I think it's a good pic, but I agree with the consensus that the torsos look melded.

i really like this, its great you did the whole thing straight from your head, the message is probably more direct that way.
Very strong piece, i think you conveyed the message almost perfectly.

Wow, thanks! The positive feedback means a lot to me right now. :)
I guess I wasn't totally happy with this piece, that's why I was so negative.
Yup, the waste area is a problem; I think it wasn't as visible in some other variations when I was playing with contrast/lightness/levels. But it kinda sticks out now.
So I'll change it.
Thanks for the comments/crits! :)

Lol - wow! You are so right! haha - to think that I've been putting so much work into it, and not having seen that! It's so obvious now! :D
Thanks for pointing it out, I seriously didn't notice. I guess like with drawings, that when you've worked on them for a while, you go 'blind'.

Ok, I've updated the pic a bit, the division between the two should be clearer now, plus the foreshortening of 'his' leg is a little different. I guess I can explain away a couple of other things as being the rust taking it's course... ;)

I've used Photoshop for a while, and only just started using Painter 8.
In that short period of time, I would say that Painter seems quite 'cheaper' - - well, it is cheaper, but it feels less stable and I've gotten quite a few hickups using it compared to Photoshop. Artifacts when moving large pictures around(lines where the edge of the picture was before moving it), strange artifacts appearing(but disappearing as soon as I zoom in/out again)when drawing with a small brush size on a huge canvas, etc.
But - Painter is still the software preferred by professional artists, so...
I still have to learn it, but I think that Painter emulates the real thing(real paint/pencils/whatever) better than Photoshop, especially when you use the paper types/canvas and brush types to match.
