ok, this isn't entirely original, but it is by no means copied. i just lifted the idea of a glowing eye gasmasked gunman from jin-roh and killzone. the only source i used was a thumbnail sized jin-roh pic in OPM. C&C welcome

Dude, post all your work in one thread. You have about 4-5 or so posts..it's confusing, and against the rules FYI

Alert Alert, incoming constructive criticism:

As with your bahamut-inspired piece, I think it's lacking in a little three-dimensionality, particularly around the arms. They piece doesn't "read" as well as it should because of this. The figure also seems a bit scrunched up and awkward. You definately can "finish" a drawing pretty well, but you've really got to iron out the basics some more. :)

Nothing is original anymore. Everything that is done has been done. Your piece is an original piece of artwork. that was influenced by someone elses original artwork, on a subconcious level or not. That's the nice thing about art, it's inspired by the past.

By the way, nice piece of artwork. :)

I think everything looks original and well thought out except for the glowing eyes/gasmask combo, which you should have stylised more to get looking original.
The round glowing eyes kinda remind me of those soldiers in the final fantasy movie., and the glowing eyes gasmask thing has been around since those strange looking warhammer characters.

Gasmasks tend to get overused probably because there something inherantly cool about them. But sometimes a concept requires a gasmask or oxygen mask, and i think if you rework it enough you should be able to get it to look original, like those gasmask guys in Halflife2 or the oxygenmask/helmets the Brotherhood of steel have in Fallout.

Everything else in this concept is pretty kickass,. the shoulder pads, arms, elbow, the way the ammo belt feeds down to his belt, the gun muzzle is interesting.. mabye the gun is a bit flat on the top.
