Hi all. First post here. (long time lurker though. :P)
Anyways, I've been having this problem and hope someone can help me. On my intuos 3 6x8 every time I use the scroll tab it zooms in painter. Is there any way to stop it from zooming and switch it to scrolling or am I stuck with it? I've tried messing with the tablet properties but got nothing, so any help would be appreciated.

in the tablet properties select functions, open touch strip and switch to another setting... i'm using russian language, so i don't know what word you have in english. i guess switch from zooming to scrolling.

Hi there!
Go to your Wacom Tablet properties, on the Tool section select "Functions" then select Touch Strip tab you could change it to what ever you want or even turn it off.

Lol, believe me, I've tried all of that. I have all my applications (painter, PS, Illustrator, etc.) set to scroll;very fast on functions, along with the master function. Painter's the only one that zooms when I do this though.
I've tried setting one touch strip to zoom and one to scroll to see if that'll assign the zoom to one and a scroll to the other, didn't work. I've tried combining it with one of the modifiers (tried them all) and that didn't work. Tried disabling/re-enabling, that didn't work.
At this point I'm running out of ideas short of uninstalling/re-installing both my tablet and painter and seeing if that helps. But, in which case I could probably live with it seeing as it's not too bothersome unless I'm doing some up close detail stuff. Just figured there might be something I'm missing in painter or someone else has had this problem and would know how to fix it.
