Close.Circuit.Scout.TeleVision. Unit. or 'Sweeper'. Is a the police forces new weapon against crime. Once a member of the military armoury, used to scout out targets and enemy positions during urban combat. It was later adopted by police forces around the world to take over the job of Police Helicopter Units. Its multi-spectrum visor can pick out targets via Heat, Ultra Violet or even its own version of Ultra sound to reveal hidden criminals in all environments. It can be useful in patroling streets as a mobile CCTV camera or it can track stolen vehicles or keep in high altitude pursuit of criminal suspects on the run and guide police to there postion via lazer guided GPS.

olsen - I like those sketches, particularly the first 'n second ones.
tharmine - That's a really nice picture, I dig it.
Cyrus - pretty neat... it kinda has a cute feel to it, like a little bug.
hunger_artist - (red "x")
Another sketch... no real time for coloring again. He's kinda anime, but not bad.

My first try at painter...........any c & c is much appreciated. Great stuff on here guys, love the robotic conversion MGH. By the way who is the moderator putting the red marks on the posts? It seems that j1w0n did not in any way say he sucked, only that he felt he may be trying too hard. The moderator looks like he is insinuating more than the artist. Anyone else agree?

artgeek5000- does it sell robot girl scout cookies? And if so, are they made from real robot girl scouts?
Good stuff today folks. Going from sci fi to fantasy and back to sci fi has been wierd to say the least.

I did the same thing you did MGH. Well I don't know if it was the same thing but I just glanced at the topic and somehow missed the word "Robot". I did a flying scout but it had no robot so I just didn't post it. Still good practice anyway. ;)
Silentbrain keep it up man it looks like you're on the right track with the textures. Cool lighting too.
vfxart, whatever you're sick with, i'd like to catch it please.
Welcome aboard actionshrimp. Keep em coming.
Nice stuff everyone :chug:

i'm still welcoming any constructive criticism to my technique in this, and all other, threads... that IS the point of DSG, right? getting better? ;)

i'm still welcoming any constructive criticism to my technique in this, and all other, threads... that IS the point of DSG, right?
Well... the main point of the DSG, specifically, is really more to get people in the habit of cranking out an assignment on a regular basis. The single most effective way to get better in art is to practice often, and this forum is intended to help motivate people to do just that.
It's also an excellent way to inspire work in subject matter that you might normally avoid, but that you might find suprisingly intructive or enjoyable, nonetheless. Even if you don't feel excited by the subject-matter, you still get to exercise your problem-solving muscle... ( and sometimes it can be fun to take a subject that has little appeal to you and turn it on it's head so that it does.)
For some people, it's also a great opportunity to try out completely different approaches stylistically or process-wise. ... Seeing the variety of methods used by others who are tackling the same subject matter as you can be a real eye-opener.
Although people often choose to give some applause to those pics or techniques they find most succesful, there doesn't tend to be too much critiquing beyond that. I suspect that many people enjoy the freedom of simply participating w/out the stress of fielding (even constructive) criticism. In general, these aren't meant to be finished pieces in themselves -- or even works-in-progress -- So anything beyond some thumbs-ups, or pats on the back, seems a little less appropriate on the DSG forum.
So... that's my take on it, at least. :D

Very well-said Mr Hand, I think this should be part of DSG F.A.Q, let people know what the DSG is all about.

number 24- went more cartoony than normal with this one... also whipped up a quick 3d version. want to play with some animation with this model...someday.
Eye is suitable as a scout, and the glowing half sphere underneath levititates him. (the antenna are for reporting back to base).
