well, i scrapped my grafitti idea due to miserable weather, and my multimedia video projection idea was short lived as my bulb blew out in my opaque projector ._.
so instead this is my solution:
acrylic, ink, gesso, bleach
on six 16x20" canvases (40x48")

I just moved into a new studio today - perfect time to record the start of a new journey. Its been a pretty intimidating, crazy first day. Im shit scared, but loving it. Cant wait to see all the self portraits when the rest of you guys wake up!
This was a mixed media. It was about 25 minutes of oils - reference in a mirror. And then just under an hour in photochop, no longer looking at the reference.

Awesome to see this rush of self-portraiting! I definitely wanted to play too - planned to do more than one to make up for the fact that this isn't a normal self-portrait (missing glasses, wig), but the photo made me want to do some digital paint practice and add flowy red curtains, so I indulged myself (and then ran out of time to do more because I need a lot more practice with digital painting so this took way longer than it would have for the rest of you good people ^_^)

Well,
Here we are again, another year, it seems like the day before yesterday. It's been a year since I've taken such a deep look in the mirror, on the outside there are more wrinkles, less hair, but behind the eyes there are so many more memories.
Its such a pleasure to see so many beautiful old and familiar faces. This is the best year yet!
My gratitude to Oblio for creating this day for us.
To know thy self........
I began this one a little after 1am Nov first and I've worked on it on and off all day, I've got quite an interesting video capture of it.
I forgot what an amazing teacher the mirror can be and what an amazing voyage it is to explore the depth of the self.
Blessing and thanks to all. --

Here's mine. Not nearly as good as most of the ones above, but I think that it would be a pretty good representation of me if there was a bit less distance between the eyes and nose. Once again - we gathered more then 150 self portraits.
I hope next year i'll have the time to advertise this even better. I'd like to have more communities involved too.
It was amazing to see old faces and to see so manny new ones.
CA is so big now.
A HUGE thank you to all who took part in this - if you exprienced at least the same joy, frustration, descovery feeling and all that came with the SP experience as i did.. than you know how wonderfull it is.
Thank you so much. You are still my inspiration :yayca:

digitalfly - I like the minimalism of lines. I don't know what you look like but it definitely seems like a real person in his essence. You could do without the red at the lower part of the image in my opinion, it only burns an otherwise solid piece.
Chuck,Mate - Love yours =) It's totally you in both likeness and style, and I just wish I could've seen it being painted, I'm sure it woulda been a treat.
D@niel - I really like the softness of the purple shades.
fedezz - Awesome =) It's so cool when people can create a totally stylized self portrait.
Ninja ASSN - The expression and exaggeration are really nice. The reds feel a little too burnt in my opinion.
entdroid - another lovely stylized portrait. Really sweet.
algenpfleger - Awesome expression! Caught very nicely.
Vorace - has a Van Gogh-y feeling to it...nice.
ManiakS - wow. You captured the eyes wonderfully, and the lighting and colors are really great. The face just pops out at ya.
Barts - that's lovely =) It has a playful, sweet quality.
rv el - Excellent :) Lots of personality in it.
Chromosome - I love the use of brushes, your colors and how you defined the form.
Android - As in previous years, your self portraits leave the viewer in awe. Your work is unique and really astounding.
