And here's my 2 cents... Decided leave the leg mechanism as is (spent way too much time on this and it's late anyhow, gotta go sleep)

Here is my entry.

Pen, Pencil, and Shader Tool.....SURPRISE!

I worked on this for awhile....I think around 3 hours. I got a little lazy on the back part, but I just wanted to finish it.

Goran: Beautiful as always!

WickedEdges:Um....not sure I understand your question?

I drew it with my hand using a pencil, pen, and shader tool. Do you mean the shader tool? Its the paper thing you use to smooth out your pencil. Its called a paper stump.

http://www.sisart.cn/uploadpic/200821517375610.gif

I use micron markers for the pen work.

I hope that answers your question :)

goran- Sweet design, remind me of japanese dogu!
redEye- Great texture and design!
SaintFuse- that's a lot of nice detail!
tmyohlaing- Looks pretty killer, is that a gatling gun on the top of its head?
Hamsta- good job on the legs, pretty fierce.

Locus, I never knew a robotic naked chicken is able to reach such a high aesthetics level... I'm amazed.

More of a Cyborg Chicken. Is that still a robot?
Tablet is broken so it was only a quick sketch.

Hi. I'm new here.

goran: Holy crud, nice design and shading.
redEye: I think the leg mechanism works pretty well.
SaintFuse: Beautiful design, feels like an classic kid's book illustration.
tmyohlaing:The proportions and shapes feel just right.
Hamsta: I like the simple design and shading.
RonHundred: solid design. and balanced pose, Cool eggs!
burrito: cool, it's almost a megaman enemy. beautiful shapes and shading.
abhilash: Whoa, solid, clever design and excellent poses.
cheem: hahaha, looks like a power ranger enemy, but better... solid designs/colors.
Locus: whoa, beautiful design and shading.
Gigafiend: wow. probably my favorite.
R13: mmm looks tasty. haha
Rush_23: Awesome leg design.
Bert Marissen: nice shot at the shadding.
Mumumash: The best cyborg chicken I've ever seen. :)
Also, I'd more than welcome critiques, tips, complaints etc...

Gigafiend: Nice, I like the rocket engine and drumstick legs.

shiNIN: haha, thanks. I'm not sure what it would look like with a skin on it though.

Bert Marissen: Glad you liked it. My main critique with yours is that the shading is very limited. You have solid highlights and shadows on the far edges, which makes it look like it's made out of flat plates, rather than rounded objects. Try to keep in mind your light sources, and imagine how they would affect each plane of the surface, along with things like bounced light from the floor. Practice from looking at real life objects is about the only way to figure all that stuff out. As for techniques, my working process is to roughly sketch in the main shapes, then refine them, adding light and definition to the flat image.

AddZero: I like the hand-drawn look of that one. Nice touch with the marker writing on the blueprints.

Addzero: Ha Thanks. Love your take on the idea.
Sen Holiday: I like the shading and highlights around the neck area, they look quite real.

But with what kind of brushes do you work and the size of it because you have some sort of texture in your drawings that I very like. I use around 100px ( I know its too big).

Thanks for commenting ;)

First post.

Can anyone confirm that blogspot photos won't show up when used for "insert picture"? Mine wouldn't. Had to use facebook to get an URL.

I answered my own question by checking the FAQ. I'll have to open a photobucket acct.

Hi, also first post in dsg :) nice topic and some really nice pics. I especially like those by goran, lkjhgfdsa, Locus and Dm7.
Sorry about the colours, I still have some major problem with making them 'pop'.

I got totally obsessed with the head, and never got to the body. Brambor - Is he shooting a bullet out of his ass? hehe I love the shiny shading. Plaspastic _ I dig the giant monster feeling, feels like it's from a 50's movie. Vile8 - I like the expression, that eye says everything. DM7, Cheem, really cool.

RonHundred Some good ideas here: I like the thought process behind using the gears for the tail and comb, and the chick factory concept.

It's a little hard to read though, for a while I thought it was a juke box, the eggs looking like the mini vinly records used in such. I also don't like the look on it's face, looking like an idiot chicken there :P
There's also a balance issue, looking unstable on it's little drumsticks (there's a phrase like that in Hebrew) and very top / front heavy.

AddZero I think that making this concept really work requires a lot of attention to each individual element, and how they fit together as a whole, how much of the blueprint to show, which parts to obscure with "marker" how the chicken parts are arranged, where the light should come from, etc.
