Both were done with charcoal on newsprint. Thanks for looking :D

(How can you work with newsprint? :crosseyed:)

I absolutely love the contrast between your darks and lights. They fit so well together, and they look great. You really captured the feel of structure in these drawings. Just, the head on the first one seems a little odd to me. It could just be me but there's something weird to it. Style, I guess? :)

Great job on these.

i really like the 1st one.. how long did it take you? only thing ida done different is left that big cast show out.. looks like someone is playing shadow puppets across his hips..

Main Loop: I was going to mention the shadows but I thought that I was the only who could see them ;).

Thanks for the replies and CC :)

The first one was a 30 minute pose, and I spent about 2-3 hours with the shading. Not nearly as time-consuming as graphite, which is the only reason I love using newsprint for charcoal.

As far as the shadow puppet thing, I just draw what I see :D I try to remain as objective as possible when doing life/observational drawing, with mixed results :)

EDIT: Oh, and about five seconds after I'd photographed the first one is when I realized I hadn't fleshed out the back of his head :( Fixed it though, but I'm too lazy to re-take the picture ;)
