View Full Version : Suggestion for easier updating of thread title and thumbnail

Many get stuck in this at least once: you merrily attach a ton of
pictures in the first post of your thread, and when the time comes
to update the thread thumbnail you have to remove all attachments
because there's no way to bump the new thumbnail to the top of
the list.

So, a suggestion: would it be hard to make the thumbnail and title
a property of the thread instead of a property of the first post?
This would make updating much easier.

In the meantime, it might be a good idea to start a thread with two posts, putting the thumbnail/update notes is post one and the actual images in post two. :/

Indeed, Mirana. I did so in my sketchbook, although for a different reason.

(I wasn't aware of the problem at the time but I'd read about a bug
with inlined attachments that seems to have been solved since then.)

But I recently started a thread in the WIP section and, having seen some
posts with both an 'attached images' frame and an 'attached thumbnails'
frame at the bottom, I thought: 'Cool, there must be a way to update the
thread thumbnail without shuffling the attachments' - but I was wrong -_-

Many threads in the WIP section don't have the starting picture anymore
in the first post because of this problem, meaning we can't watch the first
step of the evolution of the WIP.

I guess it would be somewhat tricky to modify vBulletin handcoding a
'thread properties' panel, but maybe there is some hidden option in the
guts of the machine waiting to be activated?
