The image started completly different. I had planned on the boy dropping the sword, and his friends standing around him comforting him. Then slowly he had less friends, or they were further away, until I just made him alone. dunno, was really depressed when I was working on it, mostly because nothing in the image looks as I planned. In any event, I'd love to hear what everyone thinks. Thank you for the time. Here are some links to the progress of the image. In total it took about 20 hours, stretch out over three days. I couldn't spend anymore time on it, my paying work was backing up.

i like the idea.... i think if you added more texture and toned down the heavy black lines ont the rocks it would mesh better it kind of distract me form the focus of the picture... love the water render bueatifuly!!!

beautiful.....although compositionally I think there should be more space at the right.....eventhough it'd mean rendering more of that crazy cool water.....
.....or you could have a couple of the buddies at the far left to weight that side down....but even still, I think the right side needs a li'l extension.

.....nevertheless, it's still very awesome.

A very strong graphic. I like the sound of perhaps his friends far away from him on the rock, however this works too. Where the waves splash up against the rock I think could use a shade or two rather than pure white, but this is looking great!

hyptosis, this is a really great concept!
the rocks and the boy are great water is good too, but the style doesnt quite fit to the rest, the sky needs more details i think..
go on, keep up the cool work!!

This is a great image. I for one really like the contrast between the cartoony kid and rocks, and the realistic water. I think the addition of his friends behind him would tell a better story, but it's still a strong piece without them. Now my only gripe, and it may just be me...It doesn't look like the rocks would hold together at all. As you've got them in solid chunks, it seems as if that whole thing would crumble in a heartbeat, especially the underside and the tip where the kid is standing. In my opinion, the black lines of the rocks add to the image, so if you wanted to keep them you'd have to figure out a way to interlock the stones so that they'd be able to support his weight. That could be a huge pain in the ass though, so maybe think about turning that whole thing into one solid slab. Maybe it looks right as is to your eye though. Regardless, I like the piece a lot dude.

what the virginia rocker said was true it looks like the rocks he is on are going to collapse. The waters great but i think it doesnt match the style of the rest of the drawing
