learned a lot in a short time. Still finding my style. I decided on this one because it includes everything I learned in this challenge. There is still room to grow.

I am happy with this dude...he is quite the charmer...modeled on Jude Law in respect to the new casting of the upcoming film.
edit: not sure about all the speech thats suddenly appearing in entries the later posts...don't get me wrong, they are great images but it kinda makes mine not original anymore...I was thinking about taking it out but its the whole point behind the pose and the humour in the delivery...plus I didnt see them in any of the original sketches in the WIPs. :blahblah:

After many years of envy and feeling like nothing more than a sidekick, Watson had finally overthrown Holmes, and gained his trophy.

Okay, some great entries this round!
GENERAL NOTES:
Please remember the naming format – granted, with the smaller rounds, it’s not as important, however in larger rounds you will be cut from poll.
Off Topic/Brief
Blinck – he isn’t identifiable as Dr. Watson – looks more like Dr. Hyde. :)
Shardana – Yours is set in the 1920’s – Sherlock Holmes is set considerably earlier. They did not have Tommy guns! :)
Anyway, I'll see about getting crits up for you tomorrow!
All the best,
~Oreg.

my vote went to ones that had the body in proportion to the character's design, personality, originality and had WIPS to show their hard work...Hungryryan, VampireHungerStrike, Adri_N and J_90
well done!

My votes went to:
Hungryan - A good look... althought static pose... suited era.
Max Martelli - Loving the effort that went into the victorian photograph look, it really suits him.
Art Adonis - Great bit of humerous action, well painted... I think you will suffer votes wise for doing a landscape instead of portrait. It really looses impact when it is reduced in size for the poll and I think most people vote based on these images rather than the later full size posts (I have often seen good work going unrewarded for just this reason).
VampireHS - Even if it was quickly rendered you have done a great job, it has a loosesness I really admire and try to achieve but with little luck so far! Do you photoshop or painter??????
Goog - Clean lines, good look, nice.
MJ Alcazar - I think he looks very convincing and I like the addition of the fog. Good costume, good pose.
Tom Garden - My overall winner... great render, design and a touch of humour. Really nice.
I will try to crit everyone later if time allows, I would do this more often but as some of you know it is soo time consuming.
Just a thought - would anyone be up for taking turns in a rotation where each week one entrant has the job of providing crits for every entry? It would ensure everyone getting at least one crit and I know I always appreciate it and I'm sure I am not alone there!

Goog - Beautifully drawn and the subtltly of him drawing his gun and the sideways glance is great

Awesome work everybody :D
I voted for Art Adonis, for the humor in the piece and the sassy bright tie he has. It's little things like that which make a period piece interesting and modern. I also voted for vampirehungerstrike, for the more severe attitude in the piece and the beautiful brushwork.

Hello mates. I`m very glad this time I got into the poll.
I feel like I have to give my apologize to Oregano and Daestwen for being rude in the last chow activity.
Thanks to all people that voted me. Dan!, Fjooner, metryx,RichtR, Robbo, Selim, Sforza and sve . This means a lot for me and gives me strenght to continue with drawing.
Today I met Marko Djurdjevic and Andrew Jones at a little workshop in Bucharest and I must admit I was very surprised of the kindness of these people. I think they changed soo much my opinion of being an artist and now I realise more than ever the hard work and passion that those men invest for being such good.
Hope I`ll work harder every day and come back here one day to win the chow. :)
Good work everyone !

I was beginning to think that speech text was requisite this round. lol
My Dr. Watson would say, "I haz a stik" if that were the case.
Cowboy Surfer: Thanks, I rendered it initially with oil pastels in painter then I played with lighting in photoshop.

I voted for J_90 (?) --their doctor's pose seemed so natural to me. And I liked the hint of background, the colouring etc.
I admit I was really swayed by the humor and general execution of Tom Garden's piece. Revolverz work also stood out as well.

My votes went to:
Tom Garden thats quite a nice piece
Hungryan I liked the atmosphere of this one. Nice emotion, good rendering

Kudos to MJ Alcazar - I have seen you on a few chow's now - you are improving. A crit for this one: Atmospherically he looks to be surround by fog, but because it is all the same tone it beings to look washed out. Perhaps if the fog frames the figure and was a little more patchy and you brought in more contrast into the areas of the figure not cover by fog - then your figure would become more of the focus. Also adding a light source - even as faint as the moon - but just something might help it pop a little with some stronger highlights (...and watch your figure and the interaction with the ground - the feet kind of look like they are floating).
Keep up the good work!

AlotAbitAlittle - thank you so much! I've been really trying hard, and it always means so much when someone notices. I'll definitely keep those suggestions in mind when I do future works. :)
