:gasmask: Just found an art hazards manual at my collage library. One of the hazards listed in it (which i didnt take that seriously untill now) was: Airsol Sprays/Spray Paint/Air Brush Paint .

I used to use my brothers Isreli Civilian gasmask sometimes when i needed to spray something. He lost track of it, and ive kinda been just working without one. So with christmas/new year around the corner my gf's mom wants me to make them a christmas list.

I was just wondering if anyone else uses gasmasks for spray work? What kind? and what experience you have with them? (good/bad)

:bounce: please post links to info or buy sites or just pics if u have any.

well if you're using paint that contains cadmium (high quality reds tru yellow) there is a potential cancer risk from inhaling the spray, obviously the other paints are harmful too as they are made from heavy metals. in hardware stores they have selections of masks with info on what exactly they protect against- such as dry dust partials or vapor.

I did a lot of spray work for a good few years and a mask is really important. Get a good one with changeable filters, and change them regularly. I used a 3M mask. Keep it in an airtight container otherwise it will filter the air even when not in use and the filters will need chaging more often. And change the filters if you ever find you can smell the fumes when u are wearing the mask.
