…clearing his throat, he noticed his mouth was dry - very dry. He could feel the cool breeze from the ceiling fan above. Opening his eyes, the room was dim except for the light from the t.v. screen. It was still on. The screen displayed a crisp, clear picture of his character; it was delivering a piercing look and awaiting his command. The console controller fell from his lap as he sat upright.

He heard himself say, “If I turn off the game now, I can probably score a couple hours of sleep and not be too bad off in the morning.”

Silently, he thought, “Look how much I’ve accomplished! I’m sure with this character, I can infiltrate the organization, root out the separatists who are leading the rebellion and ultimately prevent political upheaval…”

Back to Reality:
Before any exciting, addictive game can become a reality, it must be developed! Join us in bringing an original game concept to fruition. We need an experienced concept artist who is able to successfully create visuals from verbal and written descriptions. The art will include complete internal and external environments, cities, characters (friend and foe), weapons, modes of transportation, etc.

Primary Responsibilities:
Create detailed, dynamic and powerful concepts while adhering to direction and design constraints. You will fully utilize your diverse range of art styles, techniques and subject matter to assist in the creation of next generation games. You will work directly with Art Directors and Game Designers to help set the tone, look & feel of the project’s art.

This specific project requires photo-realistic visuals so it is essential that the artist have strong foundations in rendering with realism and believability.

Education / Work Experience:
BFA degree in Art related field (Illustration, Computer Animation, Graphic Design)
Conceptualization skills such as sketching, illustrating, drafting and painting are a must
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in the fields of either architecture, industrial design, OR character design a plus
Excellent understanding of color theory, perspective, lighting, etc.
Exceptional traditional 2D (hand drawing) skills
Proficient with 2D art software, especially Photoshop
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Able to take art direction, including constructive critiques well
Proactive problem solver – investigating all facets of issue to seek resolution
Organized and detail oriented – able to focus on quality AND deadlines simultaneously
Dedicated work ethic and self motivated

Additional Skills:
Demonstrated skills from exploratory thumbnails and focused roughs to fully-rendered art for use as reference by the art team for building game assets
Previous experience using a graphics tablet (such as Wacom)
Knowledge of the game development process a plus but not required

This is a full-time, CONTRACT opportunity. You must be available to travel to Dallas, TX as needed for meetings.

How to Submit:
Several samples of your work demonstrating your concept & illustration skills should be included. It is strongly recommended that you include enough samples to demonstrate your range of creativity and skill. Include samples of organic and inorganic work – buildings, environments, vehicles, objects/weapons, characters, animals, etc. Again, this will be photo-realistic visuals therefore, we need to see work that is NOT stylized (cartoon, fantasy, anime, etc.)
