Graphics tablet - normal/wide question.

Hey all,

I'm new to this forum and new to digital art. I'm looking to purchase a grahics tablet, most probably a Wacom Intuos 3 A5.

I just wanted to know are there benefits in getting a wide version compared to a normal? I'm selling a lot of my personal items in order to invest in something like this, so I'm just looking to purchase a graphics tablet that is effective and efficient for a long time.
