Hello all,

It's been a while, but it's good to be back. Here are a few things I've done these past few weeks.

Feedback, good or bad, always welcome...

---

a new approach (unfinished). Suggestions?

Below, in reverse, are the different steps that were taken in the creation of that piece. It started with a quick sketch at the bottom, then details came in, etc...

This one's based on Sherlock Holmes's "The 7% percent solution", in which S.H. is now a drug addict and injects himself with a solution containing water and 7% cocaine. There are critters all over the room, but I didn't want to make them too obvious at first. I wanted them to appear once the eyes move around. The critters are part of his trip (though I believe those appear when you're alcoholic, I am not sure that a bad trip would necessary create those...you tell me.)

This is a detail to show that there isn't much, details, after all :)

And that, well, it's just show that Dragons can enjoy flowers too, yes, why should they always be mean and all that, huh? heh.

Thank you for taking the time to look. Today's my BD, so I'm off to do something wild and crazy...I'll answer when I recover :)

Cheers,

Cool S.J piece. I really like the concept, but one thing that I think would help bring us close to the painting, would be if he was still half passed out, with maybe one eye looking at us, and the syringe in his arm.

He wouldn't be holding it either, kinda like he just left it there.

The look he would be giving us would be one of those " Yeah, I know it's in there, but I'm a badass detective that can handle it." Then we would be all WHOA! that's one tough detective.

Just an idea...

awesome work!!!

on the balrog, hes too medium tones, mostly darks so if you added a stronger light source hed pop for sure!!!

like in the progress you had lighter water around him and such. try adding some lights in there and it will be even betteR!

Thanks all for your comments and praise. I switch Holmes and the Balrog, so some people's comments might not make sense anymore.

amphex: thanks man, had a good one. The hand is wrong?

Noose: thanks. I hope to be able to post more now.

Halis_Aetrous: thanks to you, sir. May I have another? :)

I.was.ink: thanks man. I think the half-past out idea is good and I'll play with his eyes to see if I can bring that out somehow, or at least try. However, I didn't want to go for the overly "gore" by living the syringe in the arm. SH was an addict, but it wouldn't be proper, imho, to show him that way. He was not that kind of addict, if you follow my meaning.

endregan: thank you, and yes, you are right. I decided to change the approach a bit and make it more of a "Gandalf's Nightmare" with plenty or Balrogs and even Saruman in charge of the whole thing. I think it works better now, but I still have to play with the fire's reflection, etc...

defcombeta: bloody heck, mate, what's that talkin' of yurs? :p I don't know what gob smacked and tuts means, but the rest is cool. Thank you very much for your crits...I particularly appreciate the "disturbing but a beauty"

Well, until the next update, ta ta..:chug:

awesome stuff! the sherlock one has great atmosphere, lighting, colors, pose, facial expression.
The Dragon has such wicked detail, you must have drawn them before. Also great expression on his face.
