Hi All,

I know it's been a while and your hearts have ached to hear from me.
This letter is brief but it bears good news of two coming events.

An EVENING WITH JUSTIN SWEET at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday
evening, November 22 at 6:30 pm in room VA-113. Last year this was a
big event. If you want to know why, go to his (newly designed)
website at http://www.justinsweet.com and look for the caricature of
me.

The evening with Justin is free. He'll paint. Get there early. It
will be packed.

A CRASH-COURSE IN DRAFTSMANSHIP will happen in the same room on the
following Saturday, November 29 (Thanksgiving weekend) from 2 - 5:30
pm. It's not free, so it won't be packed, but you'll get a fortune's
worth of drawing instruction for $35 and it will help your draw
better than your rivals.

More details to come,

Marshall

"UPDATE"

Dear Everyone,

If you got an e-mail from me yesterday, forget it. It was wrong. This
one is right, unless it's wrong and I don't know it yet.

Our upcoming EVENING WITH JUSTIN SWEET is at Cal State Fullerton on
Saturday evening, November 22 at 6:30 pm in room VA-113. But it's not
free. It costs $7, and you'll get to see Justin paint. Seven dollars.
If you wonder whether it's worth seven dollars, go to
http://www.justinsweet.com and ignore the caricature of me.

The CRASH-COURSE IN DRAFTSMANSHIP will be in the same room on
Thanksgiving weekend, Saturday, November 29 from 2 - 5:30 pm. It
costs $35 and it's worth ten thousand. Honest.

More to come,

Marshall

P.S. Pencil Mileage Club members get a discount. Ask around.

It was amazing to see how loose he approaches his paintings especially in the first 10 minutes; It's like he begins with almost no structure, just scribbles and then slowly sculpts away at it till something briliant comes of it. Amazing stuff. I'd sure like to get my hands on that painter script he played of his demo at the end of the evening.

yeah! meee tooo! You know how he said he works all on one layer? So in painter six it allows you to work on one layer? I know in painter 8 it makes a water color layer that you can only use water color on or something? I'm not too painter savy.. soo just askin :)

I was there too. It was well worth the $7 and the drive down; a very well-produced seminar. Thanks to Jason for the heads up.

Lil QoH: Painter 6 watercolors appear on a "virtual" layer. There is basically a "wet" layer that you can work on with watercolor tools and then later "dry," merging it with the background.

Does anyone know which model of the Wacom 12x18 he was using? Intuos 1? Older?

I was there, hey Lil QoH I recognized you from your pic here.
:)
Hey did you guys see Puddenhead?

Painter comes with the script. After saving your file as a riff or psd resave it as a gif. Close Painter and reopen it. Go to the scripts window and in the pull down menu you will see the date and time of the file you saved. Just press the play button and it goes through the whole process. I use Painter 7 so I don't know if this applies to version 8.

I saw two people with mohawks. Which one was Puddnhead?

AmadorL
November 24th, 2003, 04:04 PM
negativespace- he was the one with the taller mohawk. http://www.kevart.com/ he is on the front of his webpage. If they have a puddnhead demo i am there!
