Hey everyone.
Well, another convention, another mural... and my FOURTH giant art piece in the month of September! This time it was at the Javits Center for the New York Anime Festival.
I was asked to recreate a painting of "Vampire Hunter D" by Yoshitaka Amano since he and the author who created D, Hideyuki Kikuchi, were guests of honor at the show.
Easily the most detail drawing I've had to recreate, it was a challenge... but after 20 hours another piece is officially complete. A few photos follow, please let me know what you think!

I lay the paper out in my dining room and draw the sketch. 9 feet wide by 11 feet tall... yes, those are colored pencils lying on the paper.

Part way through coloring, the hat and the hair had crazy sick detail to try and match.

... and the armor wasn't any easier!

I was able to hang the final piece at the show. It seemed to go over really well, and I am officially exhausted!
Hope you enjoyed this little art gallery! talk to you soon, and as always... see you at the next convention!
