Hi everybody, thought I would join the DSG.
Sudsy: Nice concept, would be cool to see it with a bit of color.
MrNorth: Ha ha! She looks friendly but in the same time very dangerous.
Vanvalen: I really like her outfit and nice touch with the basket.
prepsage: Wow! that΄s great!
benkashmir: Nice! You should continue on that one. I like it.

PS sketch- fully body cybernetic replacement! Not super happy with the face - not a great granny, could be more archetypal. Anyhow...

Granny Adams didn't let Alzheimer's get her down and asked her mad scientist-nephew to tinker with her brain in his cellar. She also had some "subtle" improvements done to her hearing and let him install an x-ray monocle. She's made a decent amount of money in her bridge-club since, most of which she donates to a local animal shelter.
And hello to everyone - I'm the new kid! ;)

anybody else remember that old 'electric grandma' movie? I just remember that she would squirt orange juice out of her fingertips and the kids would act happy to drink it. :P

Nozzle: Great robot design, makes me think about futurama.
goran: Excellent! The mood is great.
Sforza: I like the rendering of the "hat" :). Her pose is a bit unbalanced I think.
katinki: Thanks for the comment! I very much like the graphic style yours have.
cesar11: Funny one, I also think there is something with her pose, looks like she is falling backwards.
HapaNinja: Nice one, Mega man inspired? :)
R13: Great expression on her face.
ashton: Looks nice, not enteirly sure what her cybernetic replacement does.

great entries so far, really like what i am seeing here.
mumph - i really like the before and after, its a very early stage now, but it shows good potential so far.
nozzle - that is a great sketch, i can really feel the metalic material, i dont think you should make her face more archetypal, it is good the way it is, just refine it abit.
goran - very dynamic, beatifull background, the wolvie fingers are great.
sforza - good idea, funny description :)
katinki - thats an overall really nice sketch! i just love her face, so cute!
cesar11 - nice start, i think you should push the highlights and reflections on the metal elements, right now it doesnt feel metalic.
hapaninja - that is one scary granny, is that a shock gun attached to her arm?
ashton - i really like thats going on here! altough the blacks make it a bit dirty, try some finer darks to make shades, this sketch has good potential.
r13 - beatifull colors, great idea, you can push it to a real nice painting.
mbaldwin - nice face, i cant decide which leg is in front, the real or the metal one.. i also think you can push highlights to make it look more metalic.
tommoy - haha, love the dog and her face! those crab legs are awsome idea.
attackcat - really nice detalied legs and i love her afro hair!
lkjhgfdsa - good rendering, her arms are really good.
vizaz - haha really good, is that jaws mom?

Lacking decent perspective knowledge I wasn't able to really show how her legs work.. But they can unfold so she isn't forever stuck in rocking chair mode ^^

Arman, love the concept. Spiders rule ^^
Vizaz, Good job coming up with a different body part, hillarious and yet so fitting :D

Haha I have to laugh, I couldn't help it but to turn her into a borg! Inspired by my favorite show, Star Trek and my favorite actress, Jeri Ryan.
She's a cyber after all! Why can't an elderly woman be one too?
I think I'm getting hang of color and value now.. woohoo! All of you, I love your ideas, they are well executed! Sorry I don't have time to comment you individually... someday maybe I will! :D

If I have a scanned in image, I start with a multiply layer and give the picture general levels of tone (and colour) and then use a layer with the darker and lighter hilights to give a bit more depth. After that I mess around with overlays if I want detail I don't have the effort to actually draw n then work over the top again to (hopefully) bring it together.
i dunno... hope that helps...?
