Images post darker than the original

In both Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, my last piece is dark but not nearly as dark as it is wherever I've posted it (here, blogspot, livejournal). I was wondering if I need to monkey with color settings and if so, how?

If Iridyse's link to Elwell's tutorial doesn't get you the desired results, I hope it does.

You can try the below:

ctrl + u

then lighten the image

Or...

for a more manual approach do a color balance adjustment layer and adjust according for your shadow, mid tones, and high lights....

For now I've lightened the image and that seemed to work fine. When I do dark pieces from now on I'll be sure to spend a little time adjusting things before I post then I'll know everyone's seeing the art as I do. Thanks again!
