Festival's Sketchbook - plz halp

[Festival Bobcats]

So, forum lurker here... finally posting.

The majority of this stuff is from figure drawing class right now, and I'm posting because I genuinely want criticism. I'm trying to get myself to draw more, so maybe you can help. And being a graphic design major, it's tough to rely on classes to get all of the drawing instruction you need.

There's also a few random doodles in here, so watch out.

I can't profess to be much of an expert, but drawing classes are definitely the way to go. Especially loose quick sketches where you have to try and capture the flow and dynamic of a pose really quickly.
Anatomical proportions will come with practice, and that practice never really ends. The more you draw the easier it gets, but we're all always learning.

Small update. Went to a 2 hour long pose last night and of course made some other bullshit doodles.

I think the proportions are a little lacking on the 2 hour pose... whatev. The censor bar is spot on, though.

Maybe someone already suggested this to you, but you could go take a look at the loomis books, (free),
Especially for heads i think (the two ladys at the bottom seem a little off, the left ear f.e.).

I also tried to do some doodling from my head today. Used some anatomy references from Bridgman's book, which is really good. I'm definitely new to drawing armor...

Hey man, thanks for checking out my sketchbook! Those life drawings are looking pretty good.
One thing that might help is if you had a more precise method of blocking things out. Your individual parts look fine, they just don't always fit together quite right, especially in the faces. I think someone here mentioned Loomis, either him or Bridgeman would be good for studying that.
Also, posting your bad stuff can help people notice your weak points more easily. No embarrassment around here!

Nice life drawings! I'm with Cup of Joe-anatomy studies are definitely the way to go.
Shading-wise, I'd recommend avoiding zigzag lines. Try either hatching (picking up the pencil every time you draw a diagonal line) or cross-hatching (criss crossing hatching that's been done in two different directions).

Yeah, blocking out major forms is something I struggle with. I tend to want to jump on detailing the forms before I even get the proportions correct.

Had to do some environment sketching for my portfolio. Totally roughed the perspective.
