Project Viewpoint is looking for self-motivated artists to further the development of Project Viewpoint. At this point we are looking even more so for concept artists.
This is a freeware game, and thus not a paying position. It will serve as a good portfolio builder and experience.

Overview:
On January 1st, 1984, the first side perspective fighter was born. Although extremely simple, it reinvented fighters.
Our Mission is to again take the next step forward in the fighting genre. Project Viewpoint is a combination of the immersion from the first person perspective, and the flow of classic fighting games. It is a freeware game built on the Darkplaces Engine.

Key Features:
• Innovative First Person perspective on a classic fighting genre.
• Variety of different possible attacks based on player movement.
• Combo system to string together attacks.
• Multitude of stages and arena’s to fight in.
• Customizable fighter skin, different colors and few minor attachment.
• Utilizing advanced graphic features within the darkplaces engine.

Concept Artist:
Environmental art of the stages and arena’s players compete in. Or
Character design of male and female fighters.

Modeler:
Creation of character models of the fighters. You will need to be able to export into HL2 format. Or
Creation of props or character clothing and add-ons (hats, scarves, glasses, gloves, etc)

Animator:
Brings the characters to life. You will need to be able to export into HL2 format.
Plus if: Any knowledge of martial arts

Texture Artist:
Create 2d art content to be used within the map or model.
Plus if: Capable of creating normal/specular maps.

Mapper:
Create detail and attractive stages/arenas. Levels are small consisting of 1 or 2 rooms so a high level of detail can be achieved.
Required Skillset: GTKRadiant or QERadiant

Technology:
Darkplaces Engine (quake based)
Features:
• Normal and Specular maps
• Real-time Lighting
• HDR Bloom
• Quake 3 BSP levels
• HL2 SMD or MD5mesh character mesh’s and animations
• QuakeC scripting.

Format Information:
Modeling: HL2 SMD, md5mesh compiled into DPM
Texturing: jpg, tga, pcx, png
Mapping: Quake 3 BSP using GTK Radiant

Additional Info:
Players are split into 2 teams; each team spawns 1 player in a 1v1 fight. The players fight it
out and who ever is killed then has their next teammate instantly spawn in the room
to fight. Health is not regenerated. Which ever team to have all of its players
defeated loses.
Optionally, teams can keep rotating through until the maximum kills are reached.

Movement Based Attacks/Blocks:
Each click does one attack but they can be strung together for combos. The player’s
movement (WSAD) effects what kind of attack he will perform.
Additionally corresponding blocks work the same way. Block in the same direction of the attack and it gives you the opportunity to counter attack.

Dashing:
Pressing the dash command players can gain a quick speed boost and sprint only
forward for a short burst of speed. You can press attack 1 to initiate a dash attack.
This is meant to be similar to the arcade fighter’s dash.

Combos:
Players can string together attacks to perform combo's these attacks do more damage.

Movement Skills:
Players have the ability to wall jump and grab onto ledges to get to high ground or to escape momentarily.

Hey again,
We are still seeking a Character Artist, although we are progressing quite well in the coding and environment concepts.
Here are some concepts by pokepeter (http://conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?p=1940588#post1940588).

mauser, I cannot see the harm in a second environment artist. Add me to msn: giffe1118@gmail.com. I'm sure Pete would be relieved to have someone else working on some of them with him.

To chris1234,
