So i start college on oct 6th but i got all my books and supplies before that so why not start early. I have never EVER drawn or sketched any thing serious or even for fun. I only drew stick fiqures but even those were terrible.

Someone told me a long time ago, dont remember who, that you can only be born with drawing skills and that you could never really “learn” to draw, i remember someone saying that when my little brother was buying a book to teach him how to draw Dragonball Z characters and that really put me off because i didnt think i was born with those skills.

But i always had a passion for designing games, designing characters and levels and making characters look all cool with there weapons and doing cool moves and all that stuff, so i decided to take game design in college. I was told drawing helps alot in making you more artistic and better rounded as an artist. So since sept 24th i havent put down my pencil and pad, ive been learning out of a book the school gave me and trying to get all the knowledge i can about drawing. So here are my first sketches, they are the basic models.

I would like to know what more i can do and some tips, ALSO, my book im learning out of doesnt teach me how to shade or teach me about perspective, are there any books i could get on that? As you can probably tell from my drawings that i cant mirrior draw, like if i draw a left side of an arm i cant make the right side look the same so it looks proportionate. Any tips on that?

The 8 head measure HELPED ALOT as you can tell so i just need to sketch without that for practice.
