Hello. I posted this up in the "mentor sign-up" thread, but I'd like to post it here as I'm really interested and don't think anybody even looks at that anymore.

I'm interested in the science-fiction/fantasy field with the inherent concept design work that follows. My work is seen below, and you can check out my sketchbook for doodles and scratchings I probably never should have saved, as well as some older works. I

I'd appreciate help on my painting, compositional design (values, layout, color scheme), and general concepts/concept designs.

I'm currently in my fourth year of schooling in "communication arts" (a more validated name for illustration, I guess) and would appreciate any help I can get boosting the quality of my work as high as possible. I'm a hard worker and extremely motivated, especially as I'm looking down a shortened tunnel that is my college career. I'm interested in increasing my knowledge on all aspects of the field from business to art and would love to hear from some of you guys.

I'd also enjoy helping someone out if they feel I can do something for them- please feel free to contact me, as I enjoy giving back to the community.

I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO HEAR FROM SOME PEERS. IF ANYONE IS IN THE SAME SITUATION I AM, I THINK WE CAN LEARN FROM EACH OTHER AND MAKE ACQUAINTANCES THAT WILL BE MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL TO OUR GROWTH AS ARTISTS. I LOVE CRITIQUES AND WILL DO MY BEST.

My work is below:

you have a good sense of color and light and shadow. - just your basic anatomy needs work. use reference - but not too much (not for the gesture - just for the refinement of the items - like you hands on the middle picture - don't look like real hands. get reference (probably easiest for you to pose a friend and get some similar lighting and take a picture).

I'm in my last year of grad school in Illustration at the Academy of Art. if you want to form a thread for "painting, compositional design (values, layout, color scheme), and general concepts/concept designs" let's do it.

you can check out my work on my other thread - Lost Boys - I'm Jason

Jason,

I checked out your website and your thread, man. Really good, professional quality work on there from a wide range of genres and publication possibilities. I'd really like to do what you've offered about forming a thread. Where would I go about posting such a thread? Sorry, I'm a little confused as to the exact function of some forums :).

Is there a way to incorporate some of my standing assignments into this as well? For my senior project/portfolio class I'm currently working on card illustrations, which undergo a decent amount of concept design, painting, composition and the whole sha-bang. I have a looser, original story ready for the assignment and I was planning to do a series of 6-9, time and other classwork pending. I would also be completely interested in just working on other things and not working on those here- I draw in my free time as is.

Thanks,

Eric Quigley
