Haha, I was the same. I didn't want to be like "Hey, is uh... Amazing Action Ape and Drizzt here?" I was the dude wearing a white/red checkered button shirt and jeans, but you probably wouldn't remember.

A bunch of people that I was in animation fundies with last year are in our class, there were about 6 of us, you may have seen us meeting up and shakin' hands and just shootin' the breeze before class started.

Too bad Andrew quit as our Dmensional Drawing teacher. According to one of our classmates Alex, he worked on "Lilo and Stitch" and "The Wild". Hopefully they'll find a suitable replacement soon so we can get right on track.

I think it's safe to say that todays exercise was filler because it was probably all a last minute rush due to Andrew's quitting. The gist of the lesson was playing with thumbnails to get good compositions, trying out different/interesting angles of the room etc... and then step 2 was to stage some sort of action w/ 3 characters/people in it going off of one of your previous thumbnails.

Heh, It was a pretty fun day in general, both classes look to be frickin sweet! The painting assignment IS pretty much a glorified greyscale, but gives us practice rendering too. Also, any practice painting is good practice in my opinion, especially since its going to take a bit to get back into traditional painting from digital... *cringes* Yeah, wayne man, come join me and tom in the sketching of hot girls as they walk by in the break between classes tomorrow! yeah that's kind of what i had in mind, i just have to make sure we can use the room, and that all of you guys can stay i it. i was thinking of that S124 in the scaet buildiing, its the animation lab for 1st abd 2nd years and it's got lots of space and a projector..but then the security might drop by and be like..."okay guys!! show your IDS and your passes" and be utter not cool....but that rarely happens so i think we'll be fine.

When ? Saturday October 14th, starting at 8pm until 2am (I gotta work at 8am the next day)

Where ? MY fucking apartment! 1702 - 1297 marlborough court. We can all meet up outside of the building or whatever, ill find out the buzz code to this apt for the late people.

Why? Because we are artists, and we love to drink.

What(to bring)? Your sketchbook, and supplies, (pens pencils, and alcohol) BYOB people, im a cheapass starving artist. Unless people want to pitch in to get a couple twofours or some giant bottles of hard liquor, whatever.

Since im working at 8am the next morning, people have to be gone by 7am on sunday, so either have another place to crash if you want to sleep in, or prepare to get your asses kicked out the next morning! :P

Hey guys, I got a question; Nik told me in Montreal that he wasn't taking any academics or something (unless I totally misunderstood), I was wondering if that is possible. I'm in Florida, so I would need a student Visa, but if I could do ONLY art during college without Maths and Science and English/French/Candian language classes, is that possible? That would make it so much more worth the money.

The closest thing to an academic is composition and rhetoric, and psycology, both of which are like highschool joke courses (comp&rhetoric is basically a debate class, havent had psych yet). There is no math, unless you would go into technical illustration in 2nd year which you obviously wouldnt.

Also, there is NO college where you do only art, we do have theory based courses (basic design, conceptual process) though they are practical and involve art itself. The only lecture class i have this semester is compostition and rhetoric btw.

Nik's pretty much right though, almost everything is art related. I think every semester you have to do one elective (bullshit easy though). There's tonnes to choose from, my roomie, a fourth year tech, is taking mythology and sociology last year. There's quite a bit to choose from, so it shouldn't be that hard to find something you like.

You actualy dont get to chose the elective with the first 2 years, i dont know about 3rd year, but they are set out for you, psych, comp rethoric, research methods, etc.

So yeah, it's this Friday and I think the closest IMAX theatre would be the one in Mississauga.

Ringling requires 1 Academic the first, 2 the 2nd, 3 the 3rd, etc, as long as every course is art related, that would rock. In my Government class I got just shy of 100 for using a pencil to make a 3 hour drawing on a giant poster instead of a pen... Man.. So Sheridan is now high on my list.
