hey dude, like your stuff. my favourites are that robot-girl with the big machine arms and the "queen" with that little bell-thingy in her hands nice style!

Awesome work! I really like the "texture demo" as it has a lot of different things going on there. You definitely achieved that "demo" aspect to it but also making something cool and surreal out of it. It sort of reminds me of some of Michael Whelan's stuff here and there (and he's one of my biggest influences).

Congrats, you've done some awesome job
October 30th, 2008, 08:09 PM
Thanks for the compliments! :D (the last image has no name... :( , It resembles apelike features, but as far as a name like "the Cracken" or something that may instill fear, I haven't put any thought to it)
I get alot of compliments on the queen. I suppose I should flush out more designs in that direction. What do you think?

I saw an image of a wild dog with a great coat of hair. From that image I created this Demon. The chest is taken directly from a patch of fur from the reference picture. The rest was made up on the fly. I believe I spent about eight hours on and off. I got reference pictures for the melting cross, chopped them up, and then I tried to mimic the textures and colors I preferred. Is it obvious the demon is melting the crosses merely by touching them? I tried to reinforce the concept by repeating the melting crosses on the background...
This was fun, and great exercise. Best of Luck to all the ConceptArt.org members! Also, the copyright service being offered for free here to battle the orphan works bill is the best news I've ever heard! Thanks ConceptArt.org!!

Please show more when you can. Will you be starting a sketchbook? If so please PM me when you do!
Please could you reduce the sizes of the first images (600x600)? I would like to see them at full view.

Here is the ZBrush Model before I went to town on it. This image was a lot of fun to create.
February 7th, 2011, 11:15 PM
Wow, just wow.
The detail you put into these images really sells them. Gorgeous, beautiful detail.
That image of the beast is absolutely amazing. It forced my jaw to the floor.
How long did it take you to complete that last piece?
February 8th, 2011, 02:27 AM
Thanks, glad you like the Beast image. That one took me about a day and a half. I spent a full day sculpting it out in ZSpheres, detailing, posing and exporting out the matcaps to build a composite then start the hair. The half day I finished the hair, color, skulls, and environment. I called it quits early on the lava elements, which as someone pointed out I could have added some hot embers billowing up and a more defined sky/clouds to really push this image.

Here is another quick ZBrush, Maya and Photoshop mash up. I've been too busy to do any personal stuff right now, but I thought I'd share this image.
Hope you enjoy,
C+C are appreciated...

Hello CA.O Community!
Thanks everyone for all the comments!
I've been trying to find the time to post some new work, and with the recent ZBrush 4R2 release, I had to get my hands on all the new features. Dynamesh and LightCap are very fun! Thanks Pixologic for these awesome features!!! (among many others
So, this is a personal piece I created for my portfolio. I love aquatic life and the unique forms of life that thrive in our oceans, so I'm constantly gravitating toward designing creatures within this theme.
I wanted to depict the moment when this creature, summoned against its will, first breaches the sea. Angered by the ferocious swells, tormented by the frigid wind and riddled with disdain as it scornfully peers out to the one who conjured him from the silent depths below.
Critiques on the concept or how well my story is conveyed and how it can be improved are appreciated. Also, any technical software critiques are also welcomed.
I created the model, colored and rendered in ZBrush. I did almost no composite work in PhotoChop, just short of some final contrast and blur touch ups. The background / environment was PhotChop.
Thanks everyone and I hope you enjoy!

Hi ConceptArt.O Community!
Here are some of the things I've been up to lately... :D
These were made with ZBrush and a mild touch of Photoshop. You can view the turn tables of these creatures here:
Let me know what you think, C+C are appreciated.

Here is something I've painted recently. I started this as a rough alien type character, then allowed the image to develop, which is one of my favorite ways to paint. The character, over time, developed into the scale that it is in this image, which helped flush out the narrative that gave it it's name: "Nothing Left to Burn." So, evidently, I visualize an apocalyptic story, but with an actual aopocalypse at the end instead of the last minute hurra that always seems to save mankind at the last second... haha..
What do ya think?
