View Full Version : Ripping Artwork

Alright gang we need to make it known, as of right now there will be a zero tolerance on ripping artwork for the dsgs. This is an excersize to have fun and learn, not to really prove anything to anyone. So why rip artwork for it???? Seems kinda lame to me. If anyone notices anything fishy at all, please contact myself or william b hand immediately and we will look into it. Have fun, enjoy what you are doing, and mostly be proud of what you do no matter what. In the long run it will help you immensely.

The dsg was made to increase productivity and creativity of artists, i've seen many people take shortcuts and it's a bit frustrating...
please, do not use premade characters unless the topic is specifity oriented at using them, like if the topic was "undead", do not use a character from warcraft3, try to be more original. If the topic is "redesign a jedi knight", no one will yell at you if you do something similar to something already designed, because it's expected.

I have to ask, is this the first time something this serious has happened in the dsg?

To my knowledge, this is the first repeat case that someone has been ripping off artwork and posting them as their own dsg entries. I have been with it since dsg #4 and I cant remember anything since then.

i've snuck in like a ninja some times and blocked some posts... someone posted a drawing of freddy kruger that was completely stolen from a poster, he drew it yeah, but it was in my mind just as bad as a tracing or photo manip.
btw, this post won't be here forever, i'm going to make a better rules/warnings post for the dsg in the future so there will be less stickies... starting to get an overflow of them

Putz. You promoted yourself with Ninjai artwork by blantantly cropping out the copyright and putting you sig there.
People brought this to your attention as morally and legally wrong, yet you persisted with similar acts of fraud.
Adios, fucktard. :chug:

....they are talking about the unspeakable one, the foul Renone, he who steals ideas, it is rumored that if you type his name in capital letters three times in a row, the following winter will last a full year.. yea.

Renone you putz, doing a still life isnt ripping art, someone didnt draw it first. You are blatantly taking others artwork and either altering or tracing it and putting your name on it. YOUR NAME ON OTHERS COMPLETED ARTWORK OR USE OF IDEAS = RIPPING ARTWORK. I am really beginning to wonder if theres some mentality thing going on here.

and i'd like to add that the only one that needs to get a life here is the one hanging around where he's obviously not wanted.

If it bores you, why donŽt you leave? The point is that you have stolen art and claimed it as your own, it doesnŽt matter if you did it here or not, art thieves should burn in hell, and well, you one of them, so fuck off.

This is like that guy who painted the american flag and called it art. Sure, art is a blurry area defying definition, but this is not that kinda place.. I'm sure that there are other places which support this sort of thing.
Renone, obviously you don't like this place and are just taunting the people here for shits and giggles. But if you really love doing art for art's sake, why do you need to come here? Why do you need to show it online at all?
(For the record, it seemed to me like Renone did just as was suggested, which was to do a study. It didn't look precise enough for a trace for me. Of course, not telling us where the study came from was dirty.)

Ninjai with the copyright cropped out and your sig added in? On your site? Is any of this registering? What in the fuck is your major malfunction, soldier?
Besides blatant copyright infringement on your site, you posted copies of other concept art and other images in DSG without giving credit to the original artist, thus taking credit exclusively for the work. You are receiving exposure from posts at boards and posting a copy of someone else's concepts as your own is deception.
At the beginning I thought you were just playing dumb about this whole situation, but now it's readily apparent that you're just plain stupid.

good job genius, a great way to get clients is to have ripped artwork on your site as well as a picture of you sleeping and a picture of you with a pot leaf shirt - fuckin momo.
heres a tip - stay in the club scene, even though you look a little too old and washed out for that as well.

Don't get personal, it distracts from the real issue.
I don't see why renone wants to post stuff like that, but people don't come to this section to impress or be impressed. Or they shouldn't, anyways.
If you don't work hard on your stuff, though, it won't show any improvement - so what's the use in faking?
Good luck.

I already notifed the Ninjai gang about his artwork on his site. While it's not illegal to do studies, he is clearly using their character (which is copyrighted) on a site intended to get him work, and without credit or notification of the copyright issues involved in the character. That IS illegal. (Besides, I think that drawing is just a photoshop smudged screenshot anyways...I don't see anything else on the site that indicates he has that kind of artistic talent, and he would have had to color pick like mad to get it that accurate).
It's a shame hard working artists like the Ninjai crew have to take the time to enforce shit like this. I know they don't have a crapload of money either for legal fees, but I'm sure they will pursue it either way.

since your wasting our time anyways make sure you post the legal letter from the ninjai gang you get so we can laugh at the failure you and other fake artists always have. I hope your job does not involve art cause from the looks of it all you can do is mess up some perfectly good art and call it your own.

my definition of art:
when you create something unique that's not so easy to redo(may also invole sculpture etc.),but it should be your own.thus f.ex.taking photographs is seen as no art by me. even less ripping someone's artwork.burn.

The vast majority of photographs are impossible to duplicate without consulting the original picture.
But I digress.

I agree about photographs, they are art, and if you ever have tried to shoot, its alot harder then people think. As far as this thread goes, I am locking it. Conversation is over, Renone is a hack, Ripping off artwork is bad, and cheese is good. Now everyone get drawing. over and out.
