The illustrator work is good, if a bit rough in places. I don't know much about actually working in illustrator so someone else can help you more there. As for the drawing I think you should try to make the joints work better... as in they need to look as if they might work in real life. Right now its shapes next to shapes...

If you want a really crisp outline try turning off the anti aliasing when you draw them. Done correctly it is very nice.
