I too got recently turned on to this new Android project through the new IFX recently.
I dig it a ton.
The site for it is http://www.illuminated.com
Even the 'delivery vehicle' for the content is fresh.. reminds me of the Dark Crystal, lol.

I've known a lot of these guys working on this project (specifically, the folks at podcollective.com (http://www.podcollective.com)) for awhile, and all I can say is it's a TON of seriously talented people.
No offense to Android (because obviously his work is phenomenal), but this is obviously the hard work of more than just him....props to all!
I'm still awaiting stuff beyond just the teaser myself :D

Not impressed! I thought the animation was sloppy. and what the hell was with the girls voice in the dream world?
Story seems alright, def. picked up near the end but it does seem an obvious analogy for our world today(Think WoW). Hopefully the show doesn't get too heavy handed in its msg or it'll become Zeitgeist-ee.
That said, it was cool to see Android's trademark patterns when you zoomed into the face. I'm happy that he was that he was able to have such an influence on the shows look.

I think I recall reading about it a few months ago. I he wrote in text that one of the inspirations was Ghost in the shell.

Actually the animation reminded me of Fred the Caveman but on hyper overdrive. It's quite a few new styles all at once that you need to open yourself to, especially for an animated serie..! which incidentaly makes Ian Mack's reaction understandable.

I'd have to agree with Ian about the voices.... I thought the animation and design was excellent. The back story seems top be set up well to see some cool stuff in the series. I just thought the sound was lacking...the girls voice and the background noises...very shallow.

just couldn't get past the animation... they didn't keep the life in android's characters at all.

that was hard to watch.
while the concepting may have been good, the animation and sound was terrible.

Sorry to necro this thread. Any news about the Illuminated project? Is it still alive?

the art direction is excellent, the animation is absolutely terrible

It's motion graphic animations, meaning it was possibly done in After Effects. Good for low budget projects. I find it quite nice to be honest.

Looks cool but the concept is about 30 years old. And the narrator jacked straight from the animatrix.
And no I don't think the animation gives androids art any credit. I think his stills have more movement than the animation! The way they were treated in the motions were sometimes contradictory to how the stroke was layed down, which is no easy task of course, but noticeable when not done perfectly.
I think it's got a lot of potential, unfortunately it seems like a mostly financial problem.
