Frank Frazetta books

I already got the three books by Arnie and Cathy Fenner; Legacy, Icon and Testemant, and Rough Work by the same authors. There is an impressive amount of his work present in these books, but I know there are many more paintings, and several of the works are only in the books I have as small thumbnails. What other books should I look out for?

Oddly enough I had put in the "Complain About Anything Thread" a rant that a Frazetta book isn't going to be released fast enough.

It's saying the book will compile over 800 illustrations I hope of which will be decent quality. The book is supposedly going to be released about December 9th this year. 20 bucks on Amazon.

of course, i -hope- i'm wrong...and that the book is A3-sized and contains hardly any text whatsoever:)

Hahah, true, but it's possible that there will be pages of work grouped, we'll just have to see. At least as a reference it would be good to look at to know where these images came from.

The reproductions in the Fenner's books are generally bigger and better, but it you're a real completist, the five collections Bantam put out in the seventies and eighties are pretty easy to find.

I don't know how hard they are to come by, but Frazetta - The Living Legend is a great collection of his b&w drawings. I never noticed, but now that I examine my copy it looks sort of self-published. Sun-Litho Prints/Frazetta Print, 1981. Only 96 pages, but it has alot of drawings that I've never found in any other collections.

Thanks alot for your input guys, much appreciated :) I would buy all books by Frazetta, but I wouldn't know if perhaps one book contained only one or two paintings that aren't in the Fenner books...

i don't mean to hijack this thread, but...is there any overlap in the three fenner books? i allready own Icon, and am unsure about getting the other two in case there's a significant overlap in presented works.

Testament is more of Franks' unpublished works and lesser known works. I own Testament since I kinda wanted the final arc, I also own Rough Works (actually that one came in the mail today, along with Painting with Fire).

I'm a huge fan of the pen and ink stuff so I have everything he's ever done. But if the paintings are your main interest, the first two Fenner books pretty much do the trick. There's lots of other stuff, but only a few really great paintings don't appear in those first two books.

Even if you have no interest in his pen and ink work, Living Legend is worth owning two copies of at the price.

If you are looking for a specific image, I'll tell you where you can find it. You might also want to just go to the museum website and go to the "store" section and look at the prints. Most of the images can be found there all in one place.

I found Icon at a bookstore in North Carolina. I think that was pretty much my first exposure to Frank Frazetta.
