Hello,

I'm the owner of Comfy Chair games, http://www.comfychairgames.com we are a gaming company who specializes in Horror Gaming.

We currently have our Spinespur miniatures game on the market and doing well. Well enough that we are branching out into Role Playing Games. With our first RPG "Streets of Spinespur" almost completed, we have started to search for cover artists. We need an artist who can deliver a nice, professional cover for our product. This can be done in paint or digitally, we don't have our heart set on either.

The cover will be fitting a Dark Horror theme which can be alot of fun.

It is currently September of 2008, reason I post this is that we sometimes get people applying for a job years after it's been finished.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from interested parties.

We have received many submissions and are reviewing them now. We have removed the e-mail contacts during this review process. We would like to thank you for looking.

Welcome to the forums here Raven. So you'll be commissioning the artists plus buying the rights to the image as well?

The reason why people are asking for your quote is because they want to know the budget for each piece. Meaning how much will you be paying for each piece plus the rights to each image. Seeing the you want complete ownership to the work.

Typically, when asked for a ballpark quote I send my terms of services (so the employer knows upfront what I'm about) as well as a few exemples of ranges ex. Color cover between xxx$ and xxxx$ depending on resolution, usage and turnaround (the more urgent the work, the more expensive it is.)
Sometimes it's more detailed than that, I actually have a dummy quote for 2d game assets that I used to send to indie game developpers that has detailed prices for many types of assets.

I also send a link to my portfolio and make sure to link specifically to the type of work wanted (in this case I'd send a link to my portfolio and a link to some covers I have done.)

Hello again.

This is the second time I've came to this site to get artists and I'll tell you, I'm never disappointed with the caliber of artist that responds!

I've received well over 80 responses within this 24 hour period and I wanted to thank everyone for that. I know a lot of people are anxious about the project, but it will take us a few days to really get through all the portfolios and give them the attention they deserve, so please understand if we take a few days here.

I'd love to answer each e-mail individually, but between the development responsibilities and the direction of art, the time isn't there for me to respond to each applicant and thank them as they deserve. I also don't like the coldness of form letters. So I hope this post will seem sincere and not like the mass letter it may be.

I'd kindly ask for a halt to submissions at this time. We are seriously looking at what we have now and it is very difficult as some of the applicants have really made impressions on us. I'm fearful that more submissions will only make things even more difficult. I personally want to hire 15 people I've seen, but there's only room for one cover. However we will probably be contacting more than one person because some future projects are on the horizon as well!

Again, thank you all! There is so much brilliant talent on this site it's unbelievable!
