Twins--Worlds Apart (Help! with CGing and otherwise)

So Amanda is thrilled with this sketch she did a while ago--maybe a week. And as promised to her beloved counterpart, she wants to CG it. But I'm tired of the almost glossy, *distinctly*-colored-in-photoshop look and as of late, have been screwin' 'round with textures. This, however, is even worse. Oh yes, it'd help if one would see the actual image, naye?

So anyhow, I'd be extremely grateful for some help, suggestions, even constructive criticism on the sketch. (Besides the chica's hair on the right. I know, I fuckered up.) Personas who do offer such valued opinions will be loved and adored forever. =D
