UPDATE - altered images lower down.

Or is it a pile of festering crap? You decide!
Basically, a couple of friends of mine just bought me a new PC. I have done this highly secret unbeknownst to them art as thanks.
First one is a "homage" to the 80s masterpiece The Mysterious Cities of Gold. Except it's for Adi Cox, since he loves the show (as do I).

Second one is for a Mr Rik Newman, who supports the Miami Dolphins and loves Gundam so... logical choice really. I did it in the style of a fake Laserdisc cover.

Drawing people you know in anime style is hard work!

interesting...

i really like how you can tell the amount of effort you have put into this
its really impressive. you must have spend many hours i am sure.
but as someone once said, you cant cover up for a bad mistake
nomatter how many glittering stars you put ontop of it.

its nice to see effort and enthusiasme, and for friend gifts, im sure they are fine.
and you friends, no doubt, will be mighty impressed

but you should really work alot more on you faces, anatomy and lighting.
however, i think its still nice images, and you have gone through whith it
from start to finish, which is admireable imo.

keep it up!

Mysterious Cities of Cox?
I like the Gundam cover mind. Do you Evangelion?

Er... thing is... I did all these poses myself and took photos, so I don't see how I could improve the anatomy any further. It's straight from photo! ^_^;;; Thanks for the encouragement though. Face wise... I guess it comes down to wther you like that 80s Kenichi Sonoda/Mikimoto style or not. They are two gods of mine.

Velocity Kendall - Haha... indeed. His name is Adrian Cox, so...
I love Eva up until the nonsensical ending. But even Eva's artwork is nothing compared to the old school mecha shows of the golden age. Have a look at the original Dangaioh and your eyes will melt.

Cool pics. To put what Rune said in other words...any type of anime style art will stray away from true anatomy. Not all of it, but most of it. Anime gets away with making human proportions and anatmoy all pointy and awkward, skinny, too tall etc.

Regardless of anime styling I think these are fine images and you should be proud of them with but a few nitpicks. You might want to fix the way the cape falls on the right shoulder of the figure on the far left. It makes the shoulder look dislocated and doesn't match the left shoulder at all. Also if it's "The mysterious cities of Cox" the 2nd O after the emblem is unnecessary as the emblem itself stands for the O I'm betting.
I'm sure your friends will love them :)

The two women's faces in the above picture look nearly identical albeit a change in skin tone. There is as everyone said issues with anatomy in these, especially with the face, anime or not, like in the second image, the big shadow over the guys nose looks like his nose is concave or something. Despite all of that, for what they are, they're working and are at a level of completion where i'd say yeah they are ready for print. cheers'

Man I love that show, I thought the ending and End of Evangelion was incredible, I think Anno rivals Kubrick for detail and pace. Ive a book of Sadamotos work I do like it.

Good criticisms, folks! How about these couple of alterations then? Hopefully the shoulder on the 1st one is better now, and the nose on the 2nd a bit more discernable.
