heya,
I'm new to the site, and I'm having trouble uploading pix....do they all have to under 200kb? That seems like a low quality for a pic. But this does seem like an upgrade from Deviant Art, which is kindergarten compared to this. :mod:

Welcome, :)

The size limit for jpegs is 537.1 KB, which should be enough to post at a pretty good quality.

You can use Phototshop's "Save for web" feature to help you meet the size limit.

It sounds like you are trying to upload pictures using the "Upload" in the User CP panel. This doesn't actually do anything.

If you want to upload to a gallery, click on the banner on the very top right. If you want to attach pictures to your post, click on the paperclip button when you are creating your post.

I also had trouble uploading an image.
I joined last week to enter the "steampunk arctic explorer" weekly challenge.
Thought everything was fine until I saw my message/reply uploaded but not my attached image.
I used the "reply to thread" and clicked on the paperclip.
The "manage attachments" dialog box came up and I eventually tried everything I could think of with no luck.
-I browsed to my computer(one of the options)to choose the image.
-I tried again uploading the same image from my flickr (url) after reading only url images can be attached.
-I tried opening a photobucket account and uploading from there(thinking maybe there were issues with flickr.
-I tried adding vb(code) before and after the image address
(more instructions from the faqs ...)
-I tried reading the faq "jetpack42's comprehensive guide How to post a picture on the forum" but the link was gone ...
I ended up spending more time trying to upload my image(and never could) than I did on my artwork.
I love this site and really want to be a part of it.
Can somebody walk me through the uploading process?
Thanks,
Eddie

I'm not exactly sure where the problem is. Can you explain more exactly what happens? Opening the "manage attachments" dialog box is the right thing. Are you filling in all of the copyright info fields?
