wip, doodle
Dahsramu
July 21st, 2004, 01:57 PM
beautiful colors and composition on that last pic! I really like it, even though its still a wip.
i'm guessing this painting has a theme of "escape"? I'm getting that impression by the expression on the woman's face (very well done, btw) and her body language (how she's leading the child).
Also, that theme is further strengthened by the progression from the foreboding dark areas that are surrounding the group on their left and right into the open field and pink sky in front of them.
the design of the robot is fairly ambigious right now, but it's just a "doodle" so i'm sure you'll get to it if/when you work on this some more.
one thing i dont like is the house in the bottom right of the picture. it's partially hidden and seems to be competing with the building on the mountain in regards to where the group is escaping to.
anyways, i really like your digital paintings and the soft yet confident lines of your most recent life drawings. i also remember looking through the illustrated blog on your website a few months ago. it's a really cool idean and was a lot of fun to read. youve got a really fun style :)
talk to u later.

then i start blocking in the colors
http://www.jrtistic.com/images/junk/forum/monkeybot3.jpg
i really haven't had much time on this one but eventually the back end will be covered with tree leaves, the monkey and the girl will be semi obscured by the leaves. though i haven't figured out how much to put in there yet. that's the fun part for me the deciding part.
