I think you had to position smiderman diffrently so the spiderweb stuff he is hanging on wouldent fade off into the buildings in the background because they are almost parralel to the rope

I agree the webbing did fade into the background. I've tweaked it a bit now to make it stand out more.

Thanks for commenting.

that left leg of his looks too small. seems to be miniscule compare to the right. and since its coming toward the view it should get bigger..

you should really force that perspective there..

Before I have a go at repainting the dodgy leg check out the image below.

Do you think the 25% larger foot is about the right size?
Any feedback is welcome.

Yeah - I definately like the 25% larger foot. It looks far more accurate.

NOW WITH25% BIGGER FOOT !!!!

Sorry it just looked too much like an Ad banner on a cereal box or the like to pass up.. :D

I'd say boost the foot even some more, because it has to be much closer than it looks at that angle. His leg should also get gradually bigger.

Perspective and foreshortening on the human body, the stuff of the run of the mill artist nuerosis ... It can be so tricky to get it right, specially with no photo research as I assume you are with this picture. tough to get it right. I keep a huge pile of magazines and books full of pictures just for when I get in a jam trying to make stuff like this look right.

Keep workin it man.

Aside from that, it is a good painting, :chug:

"NOW WITH 25% BIGGER FOOT !!!! "

LOL!! They're on special offer at the supermarket.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I'm not going to go any bigger than the new foot (25%) in the picture. I think the image of comic book characters with over exaggerated forced perspective has become the norm in this type of picture. I was going for a more realistic Spidey.

Also the size of the foot depends on how close the viewer is to the foot. What I mean is if this were a camera taking a picture point blank range from the foot, then the foot would appear much larger in proportion to the rest of the body. Move a few feet away and things look less exaggerated.

I did look at many pictures of athletes for reference.
In the example below just looking at the feet you can see that there isn't much difference in size between the front and back foot.

Sometimes even reality can look distorted yet we don't question it.

If you want to make it look like a photograph, why don't you throw in a lensflare as well just for good show.

;)

Just kidding. :D
