I am a published author putting together a comic book pitch.
I am looking for eight pages of penciled and inked work (7 pages of sequentials, 1 cover). I will pay a page rate for the submission package, as I do not want an artist to have worked for nothing on the off chance we are not picked up. Once the book is picked for publication, we can negotiate further compensation. The book will be five 28 page issues.
The story is a slightly sci-fi military action/drama which takes place in the present, with flashbacks to the war in Afghanistan and Iraq. I am looking for a more realistic style (see samples below). The artist should have the ability to accurately portray action, emotion, and real world details (clothes, cars, weapons, buildings, etc). I am picking an artist on talent, acceptable style, and work ethic. I am not concerned with an artist's location, but I do insist they be able to speak English and have access to a telephone or Skype.
