Let your eyebrows grow back, it's Monday. Another character based theme.
Week 8 - 360
The challenge this week is to take a character in a static pose, and have it spin around to give a full 360 degree view of the character. Size is optional, looping is required. Original characters only. This doesn't require much animation.

ohhhhhhhh shnat. Well, same deal as last week. Got school, will see what I can do with this if I can. Erm, with regards to what we want: The full sprites of characters and vehicles and shit are really really fun, but the effects sprites are faster and I can do more of them. I like this balance we have going; just keep time constraints in mind. Also, repeats of previous topics with tweaks would be kinda cool... like "exploding vehicle" or "running attack" but like I said, time consuming. Also, you should talk to the mods and see if you can get this made into a Sprite.O.W.

Challenging! I've never drawn a 360 animation before, closest thing might be a turnaround sheet and even that was only four views. Hmm.
I'm up for character animation topics and I've really enjoyed doing the effects too, but anything goes really. I also like that you suggest we animate our OC's. Don't know if animating sprites is much different to animation in general, seeing as how I've only done like... two (and am quietly chipping away at one of the CHOW parade ones). I approach it in the same way anyway, and it's good exercise. Gives me ideas when I can't seem to think of any for myself to animate.
I like Lake's S(A)OW suggestion too.

nice, I probably will make something! I'm a beginner focusing on human figure, I know something about the anatomy, but if the character is moving, I'm in trouble. so I didn't even try the jump, but this rotating standing pose is perfect for me :)
now I need leave Flash and paint with pixels...!
how many pixels tall should be our figures? 60 pixels at most like in round #3?

Spite.O.W would be amazing! just gotta keep spreading the good word to the masses, so this gains a bit more attention... perhaps I'll throw a link in my signature or something hehe.
Cool one though, this looks like a fun one again; kinda as complex as you want it to be. I really like these exercises because they are great animation exercises, and they are pretty accessible because they are done with pixels. Will try my best to do this one!

I dunno what is with the others... I love activities :) I'm a beginner, so I did only DSG, spartan camp and as you know, sprite animation entries so far... but if I will be better, I will jump into the big weeklies too :)

yeah, I like this :) the problem is I tend to be carried away, then I say to myself I don't REALLY want to make a character with a broken crow mask, a sword I can't draw even for one pic...etc.
so I will make a simpler, child version of the arrancar haibane character I have :) he has fewer accessories ;) though I have no idea about his clothes yet.
(original character means our own, right?)

Hmm... this is a pretty time non-intensive one, I think I can find the time this week. Hell, maybe a couple if I'm lucky... or maybe instead of a couple I should just catch up on old SAWs... :)

I don't know if I'm gonna get time to do this after all - got a turn happening, just have to draw the character... but it's another busy few days for me. We'll see what happens.

Chate Noir: I've seen many good stuff from you in various activity topics already and this one isn't an exception :)
my life starts to become a little(?!) stressful, but I'll do my best.
I need to look at nice things, I looked at something with yellowish green/yellow/turquise/pink (highest saturation, of course) in 6 megapixel... and it's work related. my next 2 weeks will be a little tough...

lookie, I made something that resembles an animation! :drinkup:
my very first character animation (I mean a real one, not counting a simple "jump", y position+rotating limbs with someone else's mouse and an overpaint, both in Flash ;)), a few hours, I just draw 8 pictures, it's a bit rushed, but the result are better than I hoped!
the shoes are a little bit wonky and the halo should make something too, the wings got a nice micro-flap effect ("it's not a bug, it's a feature" - programmer saying)... maybe I will change it, maybe I will use my time for some studies in the weekend, I had no energy in the whole week. but we'll see ;)
[EDIT: I changed the wings... they were bothering me.. must have been something wrong with my thinking...]
colors. the character originally has black clothes, but it wouldn't be very nice. the shoes and the hair is still black, like the outline, so with a very dark background it's strange a bit.
I go to bed.

Shinin, if you want to make the halo look like it's rotating, perhaps have a glint of light off the gold at 1 px and move it around the edge?

bleupencil: I like her :) looks like no one went with a totally simple one, every character has his/her own little unique features... ;)
Lake: yeah, I was thinking about some glint too, though I doubted it would be enough, but around the black edge may be okay... thanks. but I have no time/energy for experiments, I hope I don't forget it :) [me and my "I'll continue" works *sigh* new things are ever so more interesting and I tend to be lazy]

Chate Noire: Wow, very nice! Great design and I'm really liking the pose (really lends itself to the rotation). Good work!
Hideyoshi - Hey, lookin good! Great detail and very clean look to em overall. He is jittering a bit, but I honestly couldn't tell too much when I initially looked at it.
shiNiN - Great work, man! The wings move really nicely with the figure and I actually really like the halo staying still like that; kinda reminds me of how Mickey Mouse's ears are always facing forward hehe.
bleupencil - Looks great! The fact that your person is floating and still rotating really nicely is impressive; she is tilting a bit in one frame (just as my guy is I'm sure hehe), but it's nothing drastic. Lookin great either way, nice job!
I'm back with my attempt for this week. I intended to do this pretty quickly, kind of as a warm up for homework today, and it ended up taking a bit longer than I thought it would. Good practice and its fun so I'm not complaining though :P
I see more and more problems as I look at it, and because I used an anti-aliased brush at the end without a mask around the shape, there is some residue around him. Things to remember for next time at least. I gotta try to vary my designs a bit more too; not sure why, but this one kinda has King of the Hill type proportions.

When you do your sprites, try to clean up the edges folks; it looks way better when you do. Only crit this week.
