I enjoyed the film,
to nitpick imho you might have stretched the believability just a little.
You should post this in the MOTION GRAPHICS AND ANIMATION (http://www.conceptart.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=150)section too I think youŽll get a bigger chance of getting valid crits there as this is an animation.

Hahaha, very funny, I enjoyed it. A few minor 'nitpicks' it almost looked like the whole crowd was the same model, and I think just a bit of work on the face-mask/helmet of the big tough-guy gladiator would make him more intimidating.
Great facial expression work, btw!

There's an easy solution to the believability issue.
Well, I say easy... but in truth it'd mean redoing a part completely. Heh... not so easy, but not impossible.
My suggestion would be to have the sword be sticking out of the column, that way we don't question how a 90 pound weakling somehow perforated the column in the first place. (A much stronger fellow did all the work beforehand) This could lead to a bit more comedy if you feel you want to yuk it up, going so far as to have him put his hand on the top of the column to leverage it out, making it look to the crowd as if he literally pushed it over with his "brute strength".
A few shots from the angle of the audience with some chatter would also be nice to establish their vantage point.
All in all though, really nice work... especially since it was done on a deadline. Makes me wish I had a talent for 3D animation.

I got a good laugh of this. Just the kind of great stupid humor I like:) Great work to. I have great admiration and respect for 3d animators.

fruitdot - with comments like that, its most certainly inspiring to make more, i do plan on completing one more by the spring time...possibly with 2d and 3d mixed
akitsu - i thought about your solution but leaning on acolumn just didnt do it for me, i went with teh current version but i shouldve put more emphasys on the fact that the column was cracked and in very bad shape, as for the audience, i had only 3 days to whip up those shots, but otherwise i agree with you.
solid crit, thanks
dozeren - much respect, glad u got a kick out of it

There is not enough in the way of rising conflict for me. I think there should be one other attempt before stumbling into the solution after he tries to get back through the door.
Lighting seems a bit flat. You might try to add a bit of a rim to the characters in the scene, and the knight gets a bit lost in the black armor in the shadows of the skull. It might work better if he had a slightly colored armor like a dark crimson or if you had him back lit with some ominous light coming from deep inside the skull portal... something to emphasize his silhouette.
As far as the particles go, the perfect sphere explosion is distracting. Might try to add some turbulence.
For animation, the first thing that pops out is you really need to add more blinks. On head turns especially.
If you want a more in depth crit let me know.
Pretty good so far.

bai fan: GREAT crit, and by all means, if you have the spare time, an in depth crit would be much appreciated
