righto... went all crazy. and I need help :( .. when I paint digitaly its much like acryllics... I don't know how to get the "digital painting" feeling like many of the people here.. is it because I don't use overlay and multiply layers and textures?
anyhow.. started out simple... but I grew to like this piece... but damn I need to start paying attention more. I know there are majors anatomical flaws and stuff, yet I go into rendering. I'm a sucker.. 2.5 hours work... probably gonna finnish it.

Hadn't seen an update in a while, good to see nothing happened to DSG ;D
A bit of a minimalistic entry
http://img239.imageshack.us/img239/9509/cloudwalkerjy3.png
On a land covered with mist, one of the grounded species built enormous "armors" to conquer the skies. They became known as the cloud walkers
Not many post on this thread, it's been there almost 10 hours and there's only one entry. Weird for a topic that has been awaited for almost 3 days.
DefiledVision I really love the choice of palette, but as you said, the anatomy is a bit hmn... flawy. I understand though, there are days when no matter how many time you try, it is still not what you imagined.
I'd like to see it rendered in more details.

lkjhgfdsa > Nice rendering for the armor volume, and psychedelic colors.
XXITheWorld > Mist sky is an interresting concept, nice idea. I'm sure you can develop the design of the flying boat to be more attractive.
DefiledVisions > Hard to tell you good advice, cause I'm playing to change my sketch style each day almost. But I will try :
For sketch, I 'm not an addict of using any multiply layer or texture, even when I'm sketching in photoshop. I like to use at first in a sketch random fantasy brush, with crasy and messy pattern and. Sometimes they do happy accidents. After I clean it with more more "soft" style brush and low opacity.
You get nice colors, and may be your picture is a bit ambitious for a sketch ( 3 characters front + armor + multicolors ). Try to go to a simplier idea & work on the concept more than on the rendering.

lkjhgfdsa - Very nice work. Love those colors and the angle of the piece.
Deevad - Interesting idea. I'm very intrigued by the concept as a whole.
Here's my entry, about 1.5hrs work.

I thought of "cloudwalkers" as some kind of permanently floating construction machinery... or something.
so here's what I came up with -- I gotta get better at this speedpainting bit real soon.

DefiledVisions: love the colors! Truly sacred armor. I wouldnt worry too much about that painterly feel, as far as I remember all your work looks stunning. Develop your own style, not everyone elses' :D
the rest: amazing work lads, especially loving gorans' colorscheme.

I did some research on the word "cloudwalkers" and found out that there is a company who make shoes for women called "cloudwalkers".
With that in mind I thought of fashion, so how do I mix women, fashion and armor?
Here's the result. Even if its not something fantasy inspired it still sticks to the topic. Armor 'forged' by cloudwalkers.inc :P

DefiledVisions:Nice one, colorful, and imho it has the digital painting effect. However using overlay and multiply layers can give something extra. Also using textures is something u should try. If only because thats where many of the 'happy accidents' occur. I know this is the daily SKETCH group, but it would be nice if u could finish it more.
XXITheWorld: it's indeed a bit minimalistic but I like the idea.
lkjhgfdsa: nice and shiny armor, its very difficult to get the perspective of the head right but i think you did a great job here.
Deevad: I love it, to me it looks a bit like a stormtrooper. I like your use of brushes, it reminds me I should use other then the standard brushes more often.
NeecHMonkeY:Looks good, surprisingly the first with wings. Good lightingeffect and armordesign.
Rosen_Ice: Sweet and different approach. The expression on the face is lovely.
tobbA: good clear pencilsketch. The handle of the sword looks a bit small.
Lightfibre: not bad, another different approach, but maybe it leaves a bit to much to the imagination.
goran: nice Rembrandtesk color pallet. I only think its a bit difficult to read
Pawkfox: my favorite so far, good of you to do some research. The outcome looks sweet although I would like to see more armor.
I've made another dark one, maybe because its late again.

I tried to make armor that doesn't really look like armor but I don't know if that really comes across here....
Deevad - Very cool. Looks like a living statue.
Pawkfox - Nice birdlike design with the feathers.

I start to miss this dsg thing... but I never did armor before and I have no idea yet... :(
goran: I like the figures, they're believable skywalkers for me :)
DefiledVision: I like the idea and the fabulous colors, I'd love to see the picture in a more finished state. I'm not the first to say, but its sketchyness is far too much, I can't really enjoy what I see.

The idea is that the clouds are the armor for the cloud walkers because they hide amongst them, being relatively fragile people.

A bit more then 2 hours, I know it's not perfect, but I havn't really painted clouds before. And other things that's not uber well done, but still I'm happy with how it turned out.

Not as creative as some of you I must admit. I'm going for the 'Cloudwalker' law enforcement armour, based on experimental peacekeeper body armour.

Auren: great characterization, I think your idea does work.
Tommoy: by the beard of Zeus! pretty awesome and moody stuff, luv it.
Pawfox: you done well, good image with a great twist
Goran: Damn gud, pulled it back from your first idea.
Deevad: Like this one best, wht brush/opacity r u using?

I couldn't get any clear concept on this one so it feels very disjointed. I think I subconciously just want to go and see 'Dark Knight'. ~90 min.

Gumish - Very dark and imaginative idea.
Tommoy - Impressive with great mood.
Deevad - Very curious design with good execution. Makes me stop and study it.

Idea is the armour is the shield on his back, seeing as how his belly's protected by the giant fan he uses to fly :)
