Really impressive stuff - I like them both, especially the fragility of the sketch. What medium did you use for the painting? Is this oil?

i especially like the highconstrast in the pencil sketch. adds a lot to the feel of it, as fipse put it, fragile.
the second one is even more impressive in my opinion, i like the images you used, the sea works very well imo.

the painting is looking really nice too, is it in a finished state? maybe its just the way it was photographed, but it would be nice if some of those intense highlights in the feet were in the face and shoulder too.

You'd think a girlfriend would be mad if you drew her dead. She seems cool. Anyway, really nice work. I'd like to see more stuff like the painting.
