Just wanting to bump some info to members that have not listened to any of Bobby Chiu's words of wisdom and overall really touching thoughts to give it a listen. His words have helped me in times of hardship and unmotivated periods. Allowing me to understand that there is no reason to slack and we can all achieve our artistic dreams through pure practice and pushing ourselves.

Ah yes, Bobby's podcasts are truly motivational words of wisdom. Algenpfleger linked me these once and they gave me a tremendous boost! Thanks for the reminder, I could really use one of these now. I highly recommend these to all artists, be they unmotivated or not :)

I'd love to meet him in real-life. I bought two of his books and his podcasts are always great to watch. That particular one is very inspiring.

Dunno, he sounds like a scam artist the way he talks in the podcasts with his wacky allegories not saying that he is but he sure is full of tricks.

Some people in my class thinks he talks too much but I like his honesty and helpful words. Its quite entertaining at the same time. Great insight into a professional artist's life.

yea that scam comment made me pretty mad. The dude is positive, just because hes motivated doesnt mean hes trying to sell you something... But if those are the only motivated people you've heard thats too bad :(. I love that he actually goes out of his way to reach out to people, theres nothing wrong with trying to help fellow artists

Hes great, been watching him since that Borat Video.

Joe Bluhm and Stephen Silver have also a lot of motivating Vids/Podcasts going on. Check them out, too, especially Artcast with Silver (http://stephensilver.blogspot.com/)

The point is is how can he scam you for anything?! These broadcasts are free and he is not even selling anything. He lets his work speak for itself. He began creating these things before he even had anything to sell.

He's still not selling you anything. If his videos had commercials and he plugged things all the time then maybe there would be a good reason not to listen to what he says. Every artist including ones here like to promote themselves and still help the community. It's just silly to get a response like this
Dunno, he sounds like a scam artist the way he talks in the podcasts with his wacky allegories not saying that he is but he sure is full of tricks.

He's gonna git ya in the night and slit your throat and kill the rest of your family if you don't give him money...sssss

Heh, that's an exxageration but still. No reason to be that skeptical.

Sidebar Nation promotes everyone. He's Bobby and he is from Imaginism studios... so what?

Hey thx. I also found those a while ago. Its very healthy to explore something else besides the "how to stuff". I had been watching alot of the guitarist interviews, like Paul Gilbert, Michael Romeo, Mark Knopfler etc. Its very similar passion as visual art.

Yes but when you have a Directors Status like him You can go up much more. Look at his first Vids they were all under 10 Mins

Man you guys have no reach, the whole close your eyes and imagine yourself as a successful artist 5 years from now...blah,blah.... if you guys believe in these new-age "techniques" more power to you.

Oh man, I love bobby chiu, but those two guys on sidebar, who are they? They have a slight tendency to... annoy me. Maybe im just having a bad morning. I had to turn off the Manley one because of the explosive over the top laugh attacks at the end. Very informative though some o the questions are a bit... questionable.

I am the Chuck mentioned in the sidebarnation.com interview and can say without a doubt that after meeting Bobby in Charlotte he is no scam artist. He is the same in person as he is on his podcast. He is a Sage of our time. He is a great motivator, educator, and visionary. Is he also a savvy business man though? Yes, but do not criticize him as a scam artist for that. He shares as much as he sells. Making a living is no crime.
