Well hey guys i am here to post my drawings in my sketchbook. As youll notice im not the best drawer but i want to become one, im young so i have time and i want as much experience as i can get.

Please help me out. I'm 15 years old and have started to take my drawing seriously to progress.

I try to draw as much as i can around school and life itself.

most of my stuff i've been doing on my Wacom, once i get the time to scan my pencils ill put them up.

You certainly seem to have a good understanding of shading and outling and gesture, which is good. However, your proportions don't seem entirely consistent. Now, I understand that style can interfere with basic proportions (for example, your character may not be 7-8 heads tall by choice), but it's important to give your subjects a sense of center.

If you're having trouble comprehending how the subject looks, what I do is imagine how it feels, whether it's my arm muscles straining to hold up a sword or even just giving someone a backrub and thumbing their shoulder blades. That's what helps me, anyway.

That's just my two cents. I'd like to see fuller works from you in the future. :D

@ Tobuoi: Thanks a bunch for the feedback, i have been using the technique you said about how it feels., but am starting to use it more now! your post helped a bunch!

And i didnt draw much today but i did a little sketch for the 8 heads technique. Not the best.. little rushed but corrections in any shape or form would be great!

What helps me a ton when figure-drawing is the joints. For example, near the shoulder where you have the arms falling off at a slight angle, I'd draw circles for the joints. This gives those areas a more rounded feel which is really closer to what's actually going on there than rigid angles. It also opens up ideas for movement because most joints (like at the shoulders) act as swivels. It's much more difficult to imagine rigid angles being able to move in all directions. There should be examples of this in nearly every drawing book and it's amazing how little, sketchy circles can really improve your understanding of the human figure.

Keep up the good work and I'm glad to have helped.

Well i bought a new sketchbook on the way to Cali and drew a bit. This was all in my head.. I'm going to try some still life and studies on anatomy today.

Hi MrSmithe
good work, you have here! But I think you should try some light and shadow things from observation as well.

@engelhardt: I agree and i will try to draw more with shadow and light.. thank you!

Well.. i read a book :] by Bridge on constructive anatomy. I think some of them show improvement.. still a little iffy on the arms but im working on it.. now for the rest of the body.

Sorry for the blur.. my scanner is acting up so i had to take pictures.

You're going in the right direction with these newer sketches. The amount of depth put into these is very apparent, too. Good job.

very good observation of arms, but i would like to see them in proportion with whole body.

my problem was i used to draw really good looking arms and legs but i sucked when i had to put it all together...

good luck my friend..

I have to ask of you used a reference for your skull? The nasal cavity is showing some issues, and the back of skull, well I think it might be a tad too large.

Hey man, you're doing really well, I can see you are progressing in the quality of your sketches for sure, I really like the muscle stuff, seems pretty accurate.

Looks like we're in the same situation, I'm a sophomore trying the same stuff.
