Hey everyone who reads this. I'm new to all this so any advice would be great and extremley helpful. These are my wares, quite a few of these are overly inspired by others as i'm trying to find a style for myself and figure programs out and jazz. so cheers and hopefully i'll keep posting this with lots of stuff.

Hi Baggend,
You've got a great sense of color, something I personally have a lot of trouble with. Your stylization has it's charm. The proportions of the girl in the green painting are a little off; her head seems a little too big and her feet a little too small. You could stand some more environment work, but a lot of your stuff looks splash-page-y in intent in the first place.
What is it you're particularly unhappy with?

I think its more I need practice, general feed back if things don't work and get opinions about things i should try out or look at.

since this is a sketch book thread thought i would post some sketch book work. My sketch book is square so not everything fits in the scanner. But its almost full and i'll buy a A4 one.
If you are reading this do you think the Bear on the thread thumbnail puts people off? Anyone know if i can change it and how?

really so cool and I love the light in these pieces - sketchy sketch used to the max! I also agree with the color comment, super! I like the guitar guy with light blue better than the other color way, goes more with your style, also the use of anti-anatomy work throughout - wonkey and great.

Great stuff.
I can see the Ashley Wood chromosomes in your DNA and thats a great thing cos it, most often than not, evolves to some greatness personal style.
keep it onwards and upwards.

I struggled to get what your work reminds me of... And it ends up it's Mike Mignola, the creator of Hellboy, especially your masked characters, they are spot on Hellboy villains, which is absolutely great!!! Your sketches are really unique, and your flat, aggresive shading and coloring suits them excellently!!!!
Very promising work man!!!!! Keep up! ;)

I think you already have your own style (very mike mignola like, I love it). I think you should improvise more on character designs, create characters based on different eras like steampunk, sci-fi, horror etc. Overall very promising Sb you have here.

keep going in the direction you're going. I love it.
I was going to say it reminded me of the artwork for early mgs games and then lo and behold you draw a metal gear solid piece. So I'm guessing that's a major inspiration for you.
I think ink is a perfect medium for you, so you should definitely keep working with that and the digitals are looking better every time.
as far as critiques go, I would say try to vary your lines when doing b/w pieces. for instance make a thick dark line instead of a bunch of thin lines in the same place. you can still retain that awesome sketchy style so just push yourself to see how far you can go before it starts looking too neat. :)

DoubleThink: Cheers dude, but it is a screen grab from MGS4 so I can't take the credit. But i do love the mono-colouring of it.
Eurysaces: I do like ink. I like Ashley Wood too. I do something cool then find out he has done it already and a lot better. Jerk. Must stop looking at his work thou...
Chaotica: Thanks Mate. I try and go for the cool/uncool juxaposition. And if i had my way everyone would wear patch eyes.
Diablo: But hopefully without Mark Walberg.
Raife: Cheers for the subscription hope I don't disapoint.
Jozulus: I'm a big Ash Wood fan, he has that cool freedom of lines like me other heroes: Yoji Shinkawa, ralph Steadman, Gerald Scarfe (early work), Schiele, Black Frog, Paul Davis (for some reason) and Quentin Blake (who I stole the dots for eyes from).
Cohen: I love MGS, I want Kojima to be my cinema buddy we like the same films. You seen Shinkawa draw? its insane! I do think my digitals are getting better. Can only use the Palette Knife in Painter thou.

Hey dude, thanks for stopping by my sb! Love your style, and ideas. My favorite is #4 bottom right. Good editorial stuff, only critique, watch your solid blacks in shadows especially on that landscape on page one, there should be more reflected light on the mountains, and more brighter light around the moon, gradually getting darker as the sky moves away.
