Today's topic is: Creature: Evil Genie
Mad Giraffe
November 6th, 2003, 04:46 AM
A genie is a spirit...genies are very powerful creatures...but the difference between a genie and a spirit is that a spirit can't be ordered to do something...but genies canso actuallly the the way that the genie is presented is not by own mind but by its' beholder...so if the genie is used to do evil things it will become evil minded and that counts the same as for the opposite...genies come in the most strangest forms...so this is a very open topic...it can just look like anything(it's actually more like a familiar with magical powers...). And also a typical feature of genies is that they are bonded to non-living objects or material to house themselves or to show that they are priisoned by the one that beholds the artifact(the who holds my lamp is he who holds my power...).....so succes with it...let your imagination flow...it can be anything...this is a very wide topic...but I hope this helped....

I've noticed a lot of new people (myself included!) joining. I don't know if it's some sort of collective conscience, something in the water, maybe some kind of airborn artist virus or whatever, but there's a number of us joining boards such as this and getting involved.
As a new member myself, I'm glad that there's a nice, open community here where I can log on and get an idea and just sketch with everybody. It's a lot more fun than locking myself up in my room alone with no inspiration and a total loss of motivation.
Anyway, I like the mouth effect on your smoke genie. That's a cool inner light.

Like many others this is my first post, and I'm happy to be in great company.
He looked really evil when I sketched him. . . but while I did the color he got this expression of " oh god I farted a pink cloud and it smells awful" sense about him. Oh, well.

rick_hershey - LOL, your caption is perfect for your sketch. It's a really nice sketch, just your description is hilarious.
scumworks - cool illustration. It has a narrative quality to it.
retrosolid - awesome quick study. Love the exaggerated anatomy. Menacing.

You should be able to see my pic now...
Scum: Awsome. That cloak costume is wicked, good use of complimenty. But is the red guy the genie or the green smokey guy. I looks like red guy is genies master? You kinda got a spiral composition happening with your eye moving around in a circle between figures.
Olsen: Nice disturbed mood, especially with the red. I like the harsh, worn look.
Shambacca: Nice, but he could do with some shadows, and have the lightning emit light on him.
nvision: Welcome. Looks good but a bit dark.
Retro: That genie looks awsome. Nice mood he looks nasty. I think somethings off with his right shoulder. I love the proportions of body/arms/head.

Mad Giraffe: Good 'mood' to the image... I need to play with specialty brushes more...
Retrosolid: Dayam dood. Nice work.
Scumworks: Nice sense of motion.
Cobra: Almost snarfed my drink when I saw that. LMFAO
Nvision: LOVE it. Period.
Moops: Good sense of the 'immaterial'. Also - the undead look to him really does a helluva job of making him evil.
rick_hershey: Real nice illo. - but if I may be so bold - he looks more 'confused' than 'evil'

Here's my contribution... I found a scanner in the library so now I can actually post pencil drawings! I'd like to color it eventually... it took about 2 hours, with a mechanical pencil. I'll post the thumbnail for now since it's a little large.

Okay, my evil genie is so powerful she inhabited this planet as her home, and they don't like the other planet, so the peeps of planet evil-genie pray to the genie to destroy planet of no-evil-genie...:bash:

Thank you, MrKayne! By the way, the object the genie inhabits is her amulet, in case that didn't come through.
Just a question... does ANYbody here use Paint Shop Pro? I see just about everything else... I'm guessing it's not a very popular program? Is photoshop better all around?

Heres my quick sketch for today, done during economics class:

I'd throw some color on there but every hour I didn't spend in class was used to finish a book cover.

13 for 13? Arrrrrrgh. I am thinking too much about drawing when I am painting. Need to rely more on shapes and form instead of line. But I am working on it.
